What I Want for Christmas – Part IV
On Monday, December 31, Tina spent a few hours in the office with Angelica. Tina tried to make a dent in her email and didn’t take any calls since officially she was still on vacation. She shut down her computer, put a few scripts from the pile into her briefcase and took her girl to the beach for a picnic lunch and then for a drive so she’d get a nap in. Time flew, Tina couldn’t believe it was time to go home and make dinner. Tina relished the rhythm of their time together, she knew she would bathe Angelica after dinner, they’d watch a few animated specials, and then she’d put Angelica to bed. Tina had a great day with her daughter and honestly didn’t regret not going out to any parties. Tina had no desire to go out as the third, fourth or fifth wheel and had made no attempt to find a sitter.
After Angelica was in bed, Tina opened a bottle of shiraz, a pint of Ben & Jerry’s and put Pride and Prejudice in the DVD player. Jane Austen therapy was better than the real thing in Tina’s book. The bottle of wine reminded Tina that she had forgotten to give Bette her Christmas present. In fact she almost left the case of wine behind when she returned the rental car, fortunately the clerk insisted that she open and the trunk and check for any remaining belongings, she showed her appreciation with a generous tip.
Tina didn’t want to intrude on Bette’s evening with Jodi, but the gorilla art project didn’t sound like an intimate evening. Alice had been sending her updates that ruthlessly skewered half the crowd and the “garbage” art. (Alice’s term for found art made Tina laugh). She rooted out her blackberry from under a couch cushion and sent Bette a message wishing her a Happy New Year and asking her to drop by and pick up the forgotten Xmas present when she had a chance. Then she returned her attention to the TV screen.
Bette read the message as the crowd gathered around a spray-painted dumpster, mailbox (illegally moved) and lawn jockey’s that had been “liberated” from suburbia. She chuckled as she read Tina’s variation on “the oldest trick in the book…”

hurray…bette made the right decision :)
Madcapper, this is the first story I have read of yours, Magnificent, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love how you ended it with a grand romatic gesture, practical enough for Tina to appreciate, with enough sacrifice in it for Tina to see that nothing is more important to Bette than Tina anymore.
Mads…That was wonderful. PP again. Like an epilogue??? pretty please.
That was wonderful, Some choices changes your whole life. Bette just did, thanks
I so looked forward to this story PLease continue with epilogue.
yeah what toby4ever said and more…great…loved it all…don’t stop writing plz.
I will NEVER remove you from my favourite authors list.
that was really super sweet. such a great story, in that kinda romantic way that i’m actually a real sucker for. awwwwwww, good one madcap. look at me, getting all mushy over tibette. it takes some good writing for that to happen! hehe:)
i would love another story that picks up where this one left off-great
Nice ending.
“You’re the co-pilot, I think you should have some input.” Well done!
Hello Madcapper, that was so super sweet, I love how you had Tina self medicating herself with time spent with their daughter, that is exactly what I would be doing if the love of my life was not there with me to share in it. The way you had Bette was brilliant, that is how I see her, she can’t really physically show her emotions, she has been raised to feel that they are a weakness and sometimes this never gets released, but she does turn to others to help her in her time of need… this was so beautiful and romantic and it was the gesture that Tina needed… the car signifies her desire to be with her family, for her family and for herself. This was beautiful and so very emotional… please come back soon. Sincerely, JC
So our girls are back together. They are the family that they should have been all along. I loved how Angie wanted to take care of her mamma when she was crying her eyes out. Please write soon.
So glad Bette saw the light of day. Damn she’s good. Tina, what a great job of getting Bette to see what you already knew she felt.
I’m happy that Bette make the right decision and that she gave up controll to Tina. Now please continue your Story “How the WeHo West was won”. PLEASE
Oh my…That was just perfect! However, I would always love to read more so feel free to bring on the epilogue.
Thanks for a great wrap-up!!! What a brilliant story!!!
