Chapter 41
Bette
Restlessly we slept. Tina because of everything on her mind and I, because of everything on Tina’s mind caused her to toss and turn the better part of the night. I wanted to reach out to her and talk to her but felt that we had talked out everything there was the say. Before going to bed we had sat out by the pool as she ate and came up with the pros and cons of accepting the apology her parents had offered. It went well into the night and when we finally fell into bed, I was ready to fall asleep but Tina began crying. I held her close to me and tried to help her by being there. When she finally fell asleep, I was wide awake. It was almost cyclical. She would fall asleep, I would lay there and then I would finally fall asleep and she would wake crying waking me. I would have not rather been anywhere else but there with her though.
When we awoke in the morning, Tina was in better spirits. She, as I, was tired but she was not crying any longer. She seemed somewhat at peace with everything that had occurred. She looked at me and smiled when she realized that I too was awake.
“How badly did I mess up your sleeping last night?”
“I didn’t sleep well because I was worried about you but that’s nothing for you to worry about. I lost much more sleep when you weren’t here with me.”
“Thanks Bette for being so supportive. I really didn’t think that this day would ever come so I wasn’t prepared to talk to them and then to have all that information thrown at me.”
“Have you made any decisions?” I wasn’t sure if I wanted to hear what decision she had made. Although it was totally up to her whether she wanted an ongoing relationship with her parents I see Tina, Angie and I being together as the family we were destined to be. Our life together is more than I could have imagined and more than I deserve but not more than I appreciate. If Tina wants or needs a relationship with her parents, I will support that but I will not let them inflict pain towards her ever again under any circumstance. I take a stand in protecting these two loves in my life from not only my past destructive behaviors but also from those people who pushed Tina out of their lives when she needed them the most. I understand in a way their reasoning as to why they felt that they needed to do so but that is theirs to deal with. I will put my life on the line for Tina and Angie and that’s all there is to it. Family or not, they have since I’ve known Tina been nothing but problematic for her and they can stay away if they want to continue that.

Welcome back, newagegirl! Have I mentioned that I absolutely love this story? I like the story’s pacing; you’re not in a rush, you’re taking time to explain what both Bette and Tina are going through, what they’re thinking and their emotional state. I’d really love to see an episode or two of Season 6 play out this way because like Alice, I’m dying to know if Tina’s been raised by a pack of wolves or not. And thank you for keeping the memory of the healthy, happy and goofy Dana alive. I also appreciate the “screen time” you’ve been giving to the adorable Angie. That’s something we didn’t get from the show this season too. Me wuv surprises! Can’t wait for their date night… THANK YOU, newagegirl, and please don’t stay away too long!:>

I can’t wait for the surprise. Is it Christmas time or my birthday? It is going to be interesting to see what happens. I am extremely happy for Tina and for Bette. With Tina’s parents coming then Bette will have more family. I hope that they except Bette also.

Finally! I have been looking everyday for one of my favorite stories. I was about to give up on you. You have made me a very happy camper. I have to say again, I just love the realness of your dialogue.
