Future Irony – (Chapter: 5-Looking Up)

“So, how’s it feel to be back in Ohio?” Jorey asked Spencer.

“Really good. I feel like I haven’t been here in centuries. It’s cool though. Ash couldn’t believe where I grew up at. She said that it was worse that Indiana.” Spencer laughed.

Madison was laughing, “I don’t know about that.”

“Hey, hey, easy on my home state. It isn’t any worse than Ohio. Trust me I’ve spent some serious time here. I used to come every year to King’s Island and I would come at least once a month to a club here called Metropolis.”

“Oh yeah, I remember that club. I always remember seeing it but I was too young at the time to get in.”

“We’ll have to go sometime when I don’t have my professional debut the next day. You up for it babe?” Jorey took Madison’s hand as they walked down the corridor leading to Ashley’s dressing room.

“Definitely. I used to be a cheerleader, remember? Put me on a dance floor and I will kick ass.”

They finally came to Ash’s dressing room and Spencer led them in. Ashley was sitting on the couch with her guitar in her hands. It was the same acoustic guitar that she had used the first night that she and Jorey played Grey. She looked good. She had on usual rocker apparel. Except this time she was wearing a red tank, light colored, ripped jeans, and her hair was as it always was. She still looked good.

“Jorey! Thank god you made it!” Ashley laid the guitar down on the couch and stood up to hug Jorey.

“Hey, Ash. Working on a new song?”

“Actually I was working on that poem that you read that one time.”

“Ahh, yeah, the poem that I told you would work better as a song.”

Spencer took a seat on the couch, “She’s all excited about it. She won’t even sing it to me.”

“I’ve been saving it for tonight. I was hoping that you could help me perform it. You still play guitar?”

Jorey chuckled, “Yeah, much better than the last time we tried to play a gig.”
