    Chapter 10 – Tuesday – Daniel’s Test and Marilyn’s Visit

Bette:  Thank you very much. And when will we know the results of the test?

Ms. Miller:  Tomorrow, I will phone you and give you the results. Now for the bad news. While you are waiting for you son to take his test, you will have a number of forms to fill out. I will review that paper work and tell you what you other paper work you will need to gather and submit to complete his file. It will probably be after lunch. We’ll meet in the lounge.

    Bette:  Well, I expected that.

Ms. Miller:  Welcome to Whittington Elementary Daniel.

Maggie, Ms. Miller’s assistant came in with a shopping bag of with two student-parent hand books, a uniform pamphlet, extracurricular activities brochures, a brochure on the cafeteria, calendars, on-line instructions and information, and a special events brochure for the year at Whittington.  Bette eye-brows went up at the amount of literature.

Maggie then handed Bette two cafeteria guest cards.

Maggie:  When you go through the line, just hand these cards to the checkout clerk and that will pay for your lunch.  Welcome to Whittington.

Bette (putting the cards in her billfold):  Thank you so much.

Ms. Miller:  If you will follow me, we will do a quick tour of the building.

Bette and Daniel followed Ms. Miller as she pointed to various doors and indicting what was behind them. They reach the north end of the building she stepped into the cafeteria. They briefly looked around and then quickly exited. She then headed to the teachers’ lounge. It was a large room with sofas and upholstered chairs. There were about a half dozen round tables with four chairs around each. There were side tables with lamps and electric outlets for use. There was a cell phone and computer recharging station and there was men’s room and a ladies’ room at the far end of the lounge.  Ms. Miller turned and shook both of their hands and said she would see them later. Bette went and found a sofa and placed her shopping bag down and proceeded to the ladies’ room. Dan put his back pack down and proceeded to the men’s room.

They both returned to the sofa. Daniel began to check his pockets to be sure that he didn’t have his cell phone.  It had been stowed in his back pack. Bette was looking a little overwhelmed.

    1. Thank you… another chapter coming soon.. Couple of days…

As to the growth? I always imagined that as time passed, Bette and Tina would grow more in tuned with each other. They would grow to accept the other for who they were and their idiosyncrasies would become less bothersome for that is what defines them. As they become more knowledgeable of their mate, and more accepting of who they are, the more at peace they would become with themselves and the life they had chosen.
