Chapter 10 – Tuesday – Daniel’s Test and Marilyn’s Visit
Mr. Clarke: Okay, Daniel – today you will have 4 tests. Each will be 50 questions with a fifty-minute time limit. This morning, you will have a science test and then a mathematics test. This afternoon, you will have an English grammar and literature test and finally a history and social studies test. Put your name at the top of the answer sheet. Make sure the number of the question matches the line number on your answer sheet. Erase all changes thoroughly. Make sure your dots are complete filled in and in the column of your desired answer. Make sure there are no extraneous marks on your answer sheet. Use your worksheet paper as needed. It will not be reviewed but must be turned in with your answer sheet. When I call time, you must put your pencil down; no more writing. I am going to hand you the first test booklet. Do not open it until I say begin. Any questions?
Daniel: No sir.
Mr. Clarke: Just relax and do the best you can. If you do not have a clue, skip and go on. If you have time, you can come back. Remember, you have on the average of 1 minute per question. My advice is that if you are short of time, guess. Good luck.
Daniel smiled: Thanks.
Mr. Clarke handed him his test booklet and looked at his watch and finally said begin.
Once he was well into the test, Bette went back to the teachers’ lounge and found Maggie waiting on her. Maggie gave her a six-page information packet. She asked her to go through it and fill out everything. She pointed out the page on who could pick Daniel up from school. Please list everyone she could and give their contact information. She would list herself, Tina, Sonny, Kit, Shane and Bobbie. Hopefully that would be enough. After she finished the forms, if she could return them to her office, she would appreciate it. Ms. Miller would go over it and get with her after lunch for further information.
Bette sat down and proceeded to fill out the forms. There were the usual questions – Name, address, phone numbers, parents’ names, occupations, health insurance questions, health condition questions including allergies and health history, religious preference questions, interest questions, emergency contacts, the pick-up questions, and then there were questions on whether Daniel was a birth or adopted child. There were questions on prior schools and addresses and grades completed. Then there were permission slips to obtain prior school transcripts and student records, and to obtain immunization records. It took an hour for Bette to finish the forms. She then she read it over again. She then went to Maggie’s office to give her the forms. On the way back she stopped and looked in on Daniel to see how he was doing. He seemed to be concentrating and making his calculator work for him as quickly as he could. Bette was satisfied that he was doing well and the lunch break was 45 minutes away. She decided to go make contact with the golf pro and see if she could get their golf lessons lined up.

Excellent chapter. Enjoying the growth in Bette and Tina & the family. Post soon!
Thank you… another chapter coming soon.. Couple of days…
As to the growth? I always imagined that as time passed, Bette and Tina would grow more in tuned with each other. They would grow to accept the other for who they were and their idiosyncrasies would become less bothersome for that is what defines them. As they become more knowledgeable of their mate, and more accepting of who they are, the more at peace they would become with themselves and the life they had chosen.
