Bette:  We certainly have a lot of reading material, don’t we?

Daniel (laughed):  We don’t have to do all of it at once. Why don’t you look through what we have and pick out that which we need to address first? You know, like information on the uniforms.

Bette:  That’s a good idea.  How are you feeling sweetie? Do you need something to drink before you go into the test?  Why don’t we get you some water? It’s going to be two hours before you get a break.

Daniel:  That’s a good idea.  I’ll get it. Would you like some?

Bette:  Yes, please. I presume that they will bring me the forms to fill out after you go to your test.

Daniel went over to the vending machines and bought two bottles of water.

Bette:  Thank you sweetie.  How are you doing?

Daniel:  Oh, I’m fine.  I want to get this part over. But I’m fine. Everything has gone well so far don’t you think.

Bette:  It’s gone just fine so far.  No real surprises except maybe that all the athletics are co-ed.

Daniel:  Yeah.  That just means that their athletic programs are just for the experience, winning and competition is not their top priority.

Bette:  Well, I think I like that thought.

Daniel:  I like it a lot.

Bette:  Well, I’m sure the locker rooms are not co-ed. So, don’t get your hopes up young man.

Daniel laughed:  Too bad.

Bette:  Daniel Kennard Porter?  Are you starting to notice girls?

Daniel:  I’ve always noticed girls, Mom! It just that those who are my age are now beginning to develop some of their adult features.  And that makes them even more interesting.

Bette (somewhat taken aback):  I see.  Good to know.

Bette made a mental note to discuss this with Tina. Our son was beginning to notice girls!

Mr. Clarke came into the teachers’ lounge and introduced himself. He was a balding blond hair, tall and thin man probably in his late forties. He was a mathematics teacher for 5^th and 6^th graders.  He was friendly and asked them to follow him to the testing room. Dan saw the window which his mother could observe and he smiled and followed Mr. Clarke into the room. The desk had already been set up with two number two pencils, several pieces of work paper, and a calculator. There was an answer sheet which was a fill in the dot type responses under columns A, B, C or D.  This was a multiple-choice test.
