Chapter 10 – Tuesday – Daniel’s Test and Marilyn’s Visit
Tina went into her room stripped down and headed for a quick shower and dress for bed. Once she set her alarm clock, she got into her bed with her phone and called Bette.
Los Angeles – Late Tuesday Afternoon and Evening
Daniel came out of his test and found his mom in the teacher’s lounge working on his laptop. He decided to have his afternoon snack while she was finishing up and repacking his things.
Bette: So, how did it go?
Daniel: It went okay. There were a few questions I had no idea what they were talking about so I just guessed. I have a one in four chance of getting it right, so I just filled in a dot. I think there was 2 of those on the first test and three of those on the 2nd test. But everything else was familiar to me.
Bette: Sounds good. While you were in the test, Ms. Miller came and talked to me. She said that she had already graded the test you took this morning, and she said….
Daniel: What Mom? What did she say?
Bette: She said that you were going to be in the sixth grade here at Whittington Elementary no matter how you did on the afternoon test. You scored in the top 5% of all students who have ever taken this test and the top 2% of all students who had completed the 5th grade here at Whittington. You were well qualified to be in the sixth grade.
Daniel: Really? Gosh, that’s wonderful Mom. Just what I wanted. Thanks.
Bette: Now, I have already told your mom. I just couldn’t wait to tell her this good news. And she is very happy for you and we are both so proud of this achievement. Congratulations Daniel.
Daniel: So, Mom’s okay with me going into the sixth grade?
Bette: You convinced her that it was going to be fine. You know she only wants what is best for you. We never want to force something on you which is not in your best interest. We never doubted you could handle the academics; she was concerned about the social aspects of being in a class which is older than you. But you are a very versatile young man and you will be fine. Of course, if you ever have any problems with any particular group or individual, you are to let us know. We will not tolerate anyone treating you unfairly or badly. And neither will Ms. Miller.

Excellent chapter. Enjoying the growth in Bette and Tina & the family. Post soon!
Thank you… another chapter coming soon.. Couple of days…
As to the growth? I always imagined that as time passed, Bette and Tina would grow more in tuned with each other. They would grow to accept the other for who they were and their idiosyncrasies would become less bothersome for that is what defines them. As they become more knowledgeable of their mate, and more accepting of who they are, the more at peace they would become with themselves and the life they had chosen.
