When Daniel was changing back into his street clothes having made all his selections, the store proprietor said to Bette:

Store Proprietor:  He is a very polite and friendly young man.  It’s rare to find that in this day and time. Most act as if I should be honored for them to be here in my store.

Bette:  Well, his other Mother and I have tried to instill in our children that no one should be treated as if they are less than who you are. We try to instill in them that people are here to assist you not to serve you. And those who assist you deserve your respect and cooperation.

Store Proprietor:  Well, you have done well with him. He truly delightful to work with.

Bette:  Thank you. He really is a good kid.

Store Proprietor:  Yes, I can tell. Now if you need any alterations on any of this, just bring it by. It may take a few days, but we will gladly do them free of charge. Most everything will be slightly large on him right now. But he is at that rapid growth stage. By Halloween they will fit perfect and by Christmas, they will may need to be replaced.

Bette:  Excellent, that is what I was anticipating.

Store Proprietor:  If the clothes are not worn out when you replace them, if you will return them, we will refurbish them and pass them on to students who do not have the economic resources to afford uniforms.

Bette:  Oh, that is good to know. Daniel generally takes very good care of his clothes. But his sports clothing may be on the worn-out side.

Store Proprietor:  Oh, I understand. We get referral for those students who cannot afford their uniforms and we work with them so they have complete wardrobes. But if we can provide them with a few used pieces at no charge, it helps them and that helps our community.

Bette:  You are so right. Do you have a fund which people can donate to provide uniforms to those who need it?

Store Proprietor:  Yes, we do.  Let me give you a brochure. It has all the information on where to send your donation and what the organization provides.
