    Forever Friends Ch. 23

“Dr. Kelly, if it is just a stomach bug like you hope, what do we do for it?”

Dr. Kelly turned back to face both women again.  “Well if it is, than I will give Dana another prescription for phenergan and a few antibiotics and send her home.  The fever is my biggest concern, but I see no reason to admit her unless it spikes.  We have caught the virus early enough that with medication we should be able to get the fever to break with medication and rest, which can easily be treated at home.”  Dr. Kelly turned toward the door again and left the room in search of Natalie, his nurse practitioner to get the blood work on Dana started.

Dana’s eyes filled with tears and she tightened her grip on Alice’s hand when Natalie knocked and entered the room.  Dana’s fear of needles generally became worse when she had to have blood drawn, particularly when she did not feel good.  Alice slid her chair closer to Dana when she heard Dana whimper.    “Ssshh.  It’s okay…”Alice wiped away the tears on Dana’s cheek.  “Look into my eyes and focus on me.  I’m the only one in here.  It’s okay I’m not going to let her hurt you.”  Alice continued saying soothing words to Dana while Natalie drew blood and gave her a dose of phenergan.  Both Dana and Alice were so focused on each other’s eyes that neither realized Natalie was finished until they heard her open the door to leave the room.  Dana closed her eyes and attempted to relax while Alice continued to be strong and comfort her.

Dr. Kelly knocked on the door a few minutes later and was looking at the results of Dana’s blood work when he walked in.  “As I thought, Dana you have a stomach flu.  I’ve given you another prescription for phenergan that is a little stronger than your other prescription.  Also here are two prescriptions for antibiotics.”  Dr. Kelly handed the prescriptions to Dana who handed them to Alice.  “Now I want you to go home and get some rest.  Continue checking your temperature once an hour and if it rises above 100 degrees call me and bring her into the ER.”

    1. Cougar, 5 months ago there was a Danish fanfic drought. At that time, I was a silence reader and tried to rally the writers and promised to comment as long as they write to show my support. I am just doing my lit†le part to keep Danish alive and I am more than happy to do it. I used to have a piece of jewelry which was given to me by someone who was very dear to me. For years, I wore it and would not take it off. i could totally understand the rationale. FYI, S5E1 is still showing on ourchart.com. Back to this chapter, S ruled. The whole Yoda speech was great and necessary to knock some sense into A. I really wish they could open up and speak honestly. It must be so difficult for A to care for D with all the unresolved feelings. But i am sure that you will take good care of them. Thank you and pps.

    2. Hey just caught up your story and i think ur doing a great job, its so touching and emotional with drama, angst and comedy all wrapped in. The way you have Alice and Dana with each other is so sweet, you reli show there love well. Cant wait to see what happens next and hope you continue. :) PPS. x x

    3. Excellent update, cougar! So glad that Dana’s problem is not more serious — although I guess everything is serious when you are in the weakened state she is in. Love the touches of humor about Alice’s driving. Shane is smarter than I am. I didn’t realize what the dreams were. I hope the talk between the girls goes OK. Thanks and PPS!
