    Forever Friends Ch. 23

Alice was so focused on work that she almost didn’t hear Shane knocking on the door.  Alice glanced at Dana making sure she was still asleep before leaving the room and pulling the door around so they didn’t disturb her.  Alice let Shane in and gave her hug before taking the bag of groceries and medicine from her and putting them away in the kitchen.  She fixed drinks for her and Shane and joined Shane in the living room.

“Thank you for the groceries and medicine.  How much do I owe you for them?”  Alice asked handing Shane her drink and sitting next to her on the couch.

Shane took a sip of her drink.  “Nothing.  I feel like I have been a bad friend because I haven’t been able to do more for Dana.  The least I can do is buy you two some groceries.”

“You have been a great friend and very helpful.  You and the whole group.  What you guys did with this place was amazing.  You even come visit everyday and try to spend time with her.  That’s what she needs.  You talk to her like everything is fine and don’t make her feel like a burden.  Trust me that does mean a lot to her.”

They sat in silence for a minute before Shane spoke again.  “How are you doing Al?”

Alice was not surprised by Shane’s question, she knew Shane worried about her as much as she worried about Dana.  “I’m doing okay.  I mean I’m worried about her right now with this stomach flu.  But I’m doing okay.  I have my best friend back.  We are starting to talk again like we used to and everything.”

“Really?  That’s good.  Have you been able to keep your feelings in check and talk about what happened the other morning?”  Alice and Dana both had confided in Shane a little about what happened that morning and Shane wanted to make sure they talked and were not still avoiding each other.

“Yeah we talked some.  It’s just hard to talk sometimes without telling her exactly how I feel.  I can handle being just friends, but I’m not sure I can handle telling her how I really feel and having her tell me she doesn’t feel the same.”  Shane just shook her head.  She still did not understand how Dana and Alice could be so dense when it comes to each other’s feelings.

    1. Cougar, 5 months ago there was a Danish fanfic drought. At that time, I was a silence reader and tried to rally the writers and promised to comment as long as they write to show my support. I am just doing my lit†le part to keep Danish alive and I am more than happy to do it. I used to have a piece of jewelry which was given to me by someone who was very dear to me. For years, I wore it and would not take it off. i could totally understand the rationale. FYI, S5E1 is still showing on ourchart.com. Back to this chapter, S ruled. The whole Yoda speech was great and necessary to knock some sense into A. I really wish they could open up and speak honestly. It must be so difficult for A to care for D with all the unresolved feelings. But i am sure that you will take good care of them. Thank you and pps.

    2. Hey just caught up your story and i think ur doing a great job, its so touching and emotional with drama, angst and comedy all wrapped in. The way you have Alice and Dana with each other is so sweet, you reli show there love well. Cant wait to see what happens next and hope you continue. :) PPS. x x

    3. Excellent update, cougar! So glad that Dana’s problem is not more serious — although I guess everything is serious when you are in the weakened state she is in. Love the touches of humor about Alice’s driving. Shane is smarter than I am. I didn’t realize what the dreams were. I hope the talk between the girls goes OK. Thanks and PPS!
