Just The Girl 2.0 – Chapter Twenty Two, Part Three (based loosely on HYD: Returns)

I cried for myself. I cried for Eric. But most of all, I cried for Jill.

They say that the truth will set you free.

Then how come I felt even more beholden now?

The wise ones were right, having a conscience is both a blessing and a curse.

    The following day.

The plan was in motion. I just met with a selected few from the PGC’s pool of talented nerds and discussed my freshly hatched business plan. I sat at the end of the long table, telling each and everyone what I expected from them in the coming weeks. My job was to order and assign tasks, theirs was to obey. I left the conference room while they were still brainstorming, leaving the thinking and planning parts in their able hands. James stayed behind to supervise; while I, I left the MVP Towers, took the keys of the Mercedes from Benny and drove myself to Greenwood Heights in Brooklyn.

It was a Sunday, and I got there faster than the last time I came to this area during a manic weekday. The historic cemetery with its lush greens and beautiful architecture was pleasing to the eyes – well, save for the sight of the many tombstones that littered the place. Those gigantic blocks of stones shaped like massive angels and giant crosses never failed to send a chill up and down my spine since I was a kid.

I got lost a bit, but with the help of a roving security guard, I found what I came for.

And now, I was here. Standing by the wrought iron gates of the Grisham family mausoleum, a bouquet of tulips in hand.

If you had told me last week that I’d be here today, visiting Eric’s final resting place, I’m sure I would’ve laughed out loud or told you to fuck the hell off. I’ve been here only once – and on Jill’s invitation too. Now I was back, all alone, the dead man’s widow not here to keep me company. I have to admit, this place was pretty creepy. It was cold and the silence was deafening and unnerving.

    1. Brilliant as usual, bt I agree wit Bette she can not turn her back to Jill, she deserves more. Well miracles happens maybe u will suddenly find some free n time decide write n post:))) PPS

    2. I love your long updates, so i really enjoyed all the three chapters. I’m glad things are getting solved and hopefully Tina will accept Bette and Jill’s friendship.. You’re awesome. Thanks for posting!

    3. Alch, you really are a brilliant writer. The way you flip back and forth, moving from describing Bette’s inner most turmoil to humorous quips between Bette and Tina amazes me. I don’t know about pharmaceuticals, but you sure could have a career in writing! Fabulous updates…it will be a long wait for the next, but well worth it I’m sure.

    4. i get so excited when i see you have posted, i absolutely luv how you write bette/tina, i luv the way you play with their relationship. can’t wait for more!!

    5. Bette has a lot on her plate, she’s doing the right thing, and I have faith that Tina will be more understanding. Cause she’s Tina and she’s put up with so much. Take your time with the posts and thanks for the warning. Thanks Alchy.

    6. Okay, you mentioned youre not gonna be able to update in a few weeks. But we have long weekend in plain sight?! :D Im back to my little cocoon then, loving the sweet talks between Bette and Tina. But seems the drama isnt over yet from your little snippet Alchemy! Thanks for the update

    7. What a beautiful, heartbreaking, and full of surprise 3 chapters. All the agony that Bette put herself through and finding out that she was not the cause of Eric’s death. I like her idea of taking down the evil couple. Will she hire the ones that lose their jobs by taking down the evil couple, and will she have the ability to rehire those that lost their employment because of her actions of her childhood?
