Her attending, Dr. Ruya gave her a look, “You are bleeding all over the chart, Dr. Stevens.”
Sabrina took a breath and nodded. She closed her odd colored eyes and sighed to steady herself, her mother’s voice playing repeatedly in her head, temper, temper. It was one of the few things that Sabrina remembered about her mother, her distaste for Sabrina’s always-present temper. The only other thing she remembered about her mother was her mentioning having had another child while she’d been in California on one of her adventures.
“Yes Ma’am,” Sabrina said, through clenched teeth. Centering herself, she tried to think of something soothing when all she honestly wanted to do was spend twenty minutes on a heavy bag. She needed to calm herself, to feel the bag giving way to her pounding knuckles, but she couldn’t do that right now, she had to work.
“What has your knickers in a bunch?” Dr. Ruya asked. Sabrina rubbed her dark eyes, not wanting to get into what was bothering her. Ruya was a dark haired, dark eyed native of India who had the most disarming British accent.
“Ms. Peabody, Helena? She is….” Then Sabrina figured she had nothing to lose, “…stalking my patient Ma’am. You see, she comes and goes as she pleases, against the wishes of Miss Kennard’s wife,” Dr. Stevens added the last part, with a nod and a slap of a hand on the desk. Ruya grimaced at her emotional response.
“You must remember that they aren’t really married in this country and that Miss Porter has no say as to how Miss Kennard is to be treated. Her mother is making all medical decisions as of today,” reminded Dr. Ruya.
Sabrina sighed, rubbing her full cotton candy lips and nodded again. Sometimes there were things you just couldn’t change: like legal matters, someone’s heart was giving out or that there were no donor livers to be had when a 10 year old child needed one.
“Yes Ma’am,” Sabrina muttered under her breath.
“Now, you have to run some tests on 453,” stated Ruya. Sabrina took the chart, noticing it was a babysitting job; taking the patient to MRI, making sure the results got back to Ruya the moment they were ready. Babysitting, she could do that.

I’m just thrilled to see this in print again. Angie is so cute. Plus Sam is in this one/ Plus the whole gang. I’m still waiting on a Novel so it can grace my coffee table under glass and dare anyone to touch it. Hopefully Peggy will take care of Helena, and the good Dr will help Bette away from Tinas Mother. Somethings never changes Tinas Mother is a Bi%%h in this one also. thanks for posting bvh
Seriously you hit al the emotions. I feel anger toward Helena…sympathy for Sabrina’s situation…sadness for Bette in having to bring AJ home without Tina…annoyance at Tina’s Mom showing up and taking over now…scared for Marina…and I am laughing my butt off at AJ’s commentary. FANTABULOUS chapter!
I’ve got to go back and read the other chapters. Really enjoyed this.
Keep writing, Ill be here too!
It is fantastic. Please continue.. I love Marina and her sister. Held prisoner by Diane. All your stories are really good. I am already enjoying this. Please continue..
Hello tJR, Oh I am all for the serious moments it just makes any tender and cute ones that much more powerful. I can see there being a lot of issues rising up not only for Bette and Tina but also the rest of this ever growing family. You have such an amazing way of creating unique and different scenarios for each of these groups of characters that intertwine with one another to create on incredible journey. Never fear I’m here till the end (you just better make sure thats a long ways off :P). Hugs, JC
