Nothing Like You and I (Chapter 3): For You To Notice

It was then that Dana realized the break Alice suggested was actually the right thing for her. She loved Alice, she really did, but she also knew she wasnt ready for the emotional investment it would take to work through their current situation. The more Alice needed her, the more Dana longed to be free and for them to work through that, it would take a level of commitment that Dana now knew she wasnt ready for. Looking into Laras earnest blue eyes, Dana felt the burdens and cares that had had been placed on her shoulders since Get out and stay out slowly lifting. When their dinner ended, Dana didnt want the feeling of lightness to end, which was why she didnt resist when Lara initially, brushed her lips against Danas in a relatively chaste kiss as the sous chef tested the waters. Growing bolder, she ran her tongue across Danas bottom lip, letting out a moan when she found Danas lips parted, welcoming the entrance of her tongue. They stood at her door kissing like that for what seemed like hours. With such mutual attraction and sexual tension still existing between them and reignited after that night, it only took two more dates and heavy make out sessions for them to end up making love.

The first time it happened, Dana laid in bed all night, wracked with guilt despite feeling freer somehow. She wondered if there was a special place in ***** for people like her. People who promise their girlfriends theyd always love them and then turn around and sleep with someone else in two weeks time. Her guilt quickly subsided when the red head rolled over on top of her and started kissing her and touching her.

Dana knew she couldnt still choose Alice when she returned, both because she wasnt ready and because if the blonde knew she slept with Lara, Alice may not choose her back. However, Dana also knew she wouldnt be able to look Alice in the eye and tell her they were over. Dana didnt really want it to be over, she just wanted their break to continue, but she also knew that Alice would never go for that. She refused to be Danas back door woman when the tennis player was engaged to Tonya, so no way would she be willing to share Dana now. Dana knew she was being a coward, but she wasnt prepared for a confrontation. So she packed her stuff up from Alices apartment a week before the blonde was due to return from Palm Springs.

    1. It’s nice to see how you’ve written Helena and her actual genuine kindness in caring for Alice after the break-up with Dana. I was a fan of Dana and Lara when they were together, as well as a fan of Dana and Alice, so I’ve been wracking my brain for a while trying to figure out which pairing seems more appropriate for themselves as well as each other; but your using Helena (as hinted at by the spoilers) as someone to be there for Alice is not just believable, it’s wonderfully written. Great job, and please post more as soon as you can!

And now that I’ve rambled on, I’ll be ending this…. now. :)

    2. Good stuff! I’m glad that you showed a little more of Dana’s perspective, it is always nice to get that in fan fics, especially because sometimes I think she is one of the harder charcters to write. Love the way you are writing Helena as well, you have a great grasp on these characters as well as the more subtle intimate gestures. Keep up the good work!

    3. gets better and better with every post. i also like this helena, she’s much more human than in TLW and almost amiable. and i like your style, hopping between past and present.
