The Dying of the Light Part 24

For days they had been waiting for her to tell them how Bette was.  Was she recovering?  Did she talk?  Was she eating?

Alice, also still had the desire to know if the psychologist is hot enough to convince Bette to jump her bones.  The blonde was grasping at the past hoping to pull herself, and Bette through it and out the other side.

Not having power of a situation never sat well with Alice.  Not matter how many comments she had made in the past about Bette’s need to be in control, Alice is worse, she just hides it better.

Shane wanted to answer their questions,  but she wasn’t sure how to.  No answer would be good enough, no answer would make up for being locked out of Bette’s world.

Scratching at her cheek, Shane catches a glimpse of the time from her watch.  It was time to get movie.  Resting her hand on the tables before her she clears her throat, drawing the three women’s hyperawareness back to her.

“I have to get going,” she says, gesturing to the door with her head.  “How about a movie night at my place?”  After her visits, she wanted to be around the people she loved the most, to remind herself that Bette would recover.

“Bring Angie over.” Suggested Shane before Tina back out, “We’ll have pizza and watch something Kid friendly.”  Pausing to tap her fingers on the table, “You have kid friendly DVD’s right Al?”  A few weeks ago Shane went to visit Alice at home uninvited, letting herself in he busted the woman watching Captain Planet.

Alice had the secret ingredient – insanity.

“Where’s Jenny these days?” Kit asked as she joined them at the table.  Life had become a little insane of a late, and it was only starting to settle giving them all room to think, and Kit a moment to realise one of their numbers had been missing, and had been missing for awhile.

Shane caught Kit’s eye and grinned as they both watch Alice mentally trip over herself.

“She’s here.  She’s here, right?  Just gone home for a visit?”  Alice asked, looking at each one in turn for confirmation of her idea’s.  “Did she get Aliennapped?”  Shaking her head, she corrects herself, “Did they take her back home?”

    1. Hi there, dear sweet Deean! Our nephew JC informed us you were in the Spotlight this week. We will make sure to join you over there, tonight. As for the story, we knew Shane was not going to curl and go hiding, leaving Bette alone. She knows her friend needs more that soft words. The assurance that she will not leave, no matter what, is exactly what Bette needs. Plus, know that she deserves to be taken care of by one of her loyal friends. Yep. Excellent choice. We are sure that Shane will make Bette to exteriorize those ugly demons that are playing games with her self esteem. Great update, dearest friend. PPS Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks.- Lucero & Marsha (Proud Salsa Aunties to the ever loving JC and Eunichick and Tias Adoradas to Patpez)

    2. This chap made me cry too. It’s like I really feel Bette’s pain too. I’m glad Shane has a thick skin and didn’t fall for Bette’s plan to get rid of her. I only hope Shane can get Bette to see she’s loved so much by the rest of the family and they need her back with them. PPS!!
