    The Letter Part 1

    “Yeah she wanted to apologise for leaving earlier without saying goodbye…..I invited her back for dinner”  Bette added hesitantly expecting a tide of complaints

    “Oh goody….” Al caught the shut it look from Tina and refrained from continuing her usual Helena bashing.

    “That’s nice” Tina said earning her curious looks from Al and Bette alike.  “What she’s growing on me by the time she’s pushing daisies we’ll be like that”  she added while crossing her fingers to demonstrate how close they would be.

    “Hey what’s this”  Alice asked pulling something out of the back of the album

    “Let me have a look sweetie”  Tina said though she recognized it immediately.

    “What is it…”  Al said peering over Tina’s shoulder “Oh my god is that the original…..Tina have you any idea how much that would be worth”
     
    Cambridge England 1992

    “So….give it to me”  Not Bette’s usual evening greeting as she found Tina preparing dinner in their loft kitchen but she had waited far too long for this and Tina had promised that tonight was the night.

    Tina giggled “You want it now” She said leaning back into the embrace as Bette wrapped her arms around Tina’s waist.

    Bette rested her chin on Tina’s shoulder “You did promise Tina”

    “Mmmm” Tina turned around to face Bette “I did didn’t I and I intend to keep my promise ”  Tina raised her eyebrow.

    Bette outwardly grimaced “Rain check….I invited Helena for dinner”  she said apologetically.

    “Bette”  Tina rebuked “This will the third time this week and it’s only Wednesday”

    “I know I’m sorry but she hasn’t got any other friends and she gets lonely…..if I promise this will be the last time this week do I still get to read it…..please…”Bette placed a soft kiss on Tina’s lips “please”

    Tina unable to resist Bette’s delightful mixture of kisses and begging “How long have we got” Tina’s question was answered by the appearance of Helena standing by the partition wall….“Speak of the devil ….no VA meeting tonight Helena”

    “VA” Helena asked questioningly

    “Voyeurs Anonymous”  Tina reluctantly removed herself from Bette’s arms.

    “Very droll Tina I’m sure……One would have to be blindfolded not to bear occasional witness to your…… shall we say interactions”

    “You could also try spending a little more time at your own place you’ll never see any action there” Tina muttered to herself breezing  past Helena carrying the extra place settings and slammed them on the small dining table.

    3. Skimmy…sorry to hear of your son’s accident, but despite it all thsi was a wonderful chapter…I wasn’t bored at all. In fact I was sooo not bored that I’d like some more, so when you get a chance do you think you can squeak out another one???

    4. By the way, a really good story isn’t just about the end, it’s the journey that is the most interesting. That’s why people are sad when a good story ends.

It doesn’t matter that I know they’re together-U filling in the details of their life makes for a fun, poignant, tense etc story. I do expect by now that T and H are indeed friends.
