Helena caught Tina’s muttering and instantly thought how much more action it could have seen if Tina hadn’t returned with Bette. Maybe there was still hope she mused.
“Alice called today” Tina addressed Bette on her return to the kitchen area “She’s staying on at UCLA for another year too much drinking not enough thinking”
Bette shook her head “Why am I not surprised”
“What about you Tina are you planning on returning to school in LA or joining Bette and I in London” Helena asked innocently in an attempt to hide the devilment lurking behind her question.
“WHAT” Tina screamed dropping the lasagne she had just removed from the oven. “Fuck” Leaving the mess behind she stormed out of the kitchen
Bette usually tolerant of Helena’s often ill chosen words was absolutely livid.
“I’ll deal with you later” She warned Helena as she brushed past her “Tina wait….”
Tina headed for the only room in the loft that had a door she could slam she had barely achieved her goal and locked the door before she heard Bette
“Tina please open the door” Bette pleaded.
“No”
Bette turned towards Helena “You should go”
“Bette I’m sorry I didn’t mean to imply……”
“Later Helena” Bette said more forcefully. Helena happy that her work here was done…..for now…… left the loft wearing a satisfied smirk.
“Tina….Double B has left the building” Bette used Tina’s current pet name for Helena hoping it would coax her out of the bathroom. Her plan was successful, Tina unlocked the bathroom door, leant against the door frame and folded her arms.
“You promised”
“Have I ever broken a promise”
“No” Tina said without a moments hesitation.
“And I still haven’t…..”
“Bette you know she only bought that Gallery for one reason and one reason only….she doesn’t even like art”
Bette could argue that maybe she bought the Gallery in London to impress her mother but wisely decided against it.
“Just to clarify after our visit I told Helena that WE still had a lot to discuss and WE would let her know upon our return from LA”
“I’m sorry” Tina apologised, leaving her position by the door she fell into Bette’s outstretched arms. “I know this is a fantastic opportunity for you and if it’s what you really want….I’m there” Tina smiled in an attempt to add credence to her declaration.

Skimmy…sorry to hear of your son’s accident, but despite it all thsi was a wonderful chapter…I wasn’t bored at all. In fact I was sooo not bored that I’d like some more, so when you get a chance do you think you can squeak out another one???
By the way, a really good story isn’t just about the end, it’s the journey that is the most interesting. That’s why people are sad when a good story ends.

welcome back, last nite I was missing this story. best wishes to your son. hope he mends properly. Love the story. It doesn’t matter that I know they’re together-U filling in the details of their life makes for a fun, poignant, tense etc story. I do expect by now that T and H are indeed friends. Plz write when u can.
