The Sound Track of Our Lives

“It has only been 4 and half weeks.” Bette tried to be patient but was having a hard time of it today.

Alice heard the strain in her friends voice, “What is it, Bette? Are things not going well in Tinaville? You better not be getting cold feet, I like her! You have to keep this one! She is the only one you have dated that has any personality, oh other than yours truly of course.”

Bette chuckles in to the phone, “You have more personality than anyone else I know. No, I am not getting cold feet but I am worried that Tina is. She has been acting aloof the past couple of days. I’m just a little worried, is all. I don’t want to do anything to mess this one up.”

“You’re in love! Holy ***** I never thought I would see the day! I think I will go organize a parade. Make that a ticker tape parade. This is a historic day.”

“I’m hanging up now! I have to go get ready. Talk to you later, Al”

“I’ll get big banner and marching bands, and”

Bette hung up the phone laughing to herself. She started to walk into the bathroom when the phone rings. She stops, turns around to pick it up, “Yes, I know, Al, 21 trombones.”

                “What?”

Hearing the soft slightly southern accent her heart starts to beat a little faster.

“Oh, Tina, Hi,” Bette voice goes a little deeper without her knowledge.” I miss you, can’t wait to see you.”

                “About that”

“You can’t cancel on me I have been looking forward to it all day long.” Bette purrs into the phone.

“No,” Tina’s voice is a little shaky.” I wouldn’t want to disappoint you. I was actually wondering if you could bring over a bottle of red wine.”

“Or course, T. Anything for you. Any particular type you want? I have a very nice Merlot I could bring over but if you want something special I could stop and pick it up.”

“No, whatever you have is fine. I don’t want you to go to any trouble”

“It would be my pleasure to give you anything you need.” Bette unconsciously put extra emphasis on the word pleasure.

    2. If Bette took a job singing in a band Tina would have a heart attack. Bette should try it on the weekend. and still work at the CAC. Maybe Tina would wake up thanks
