Where You Go There You Are

    Chapter 31

Tina felt herself bulk at Bette’s innocent words.  ‘What is Bette up to?  Does she really think she can tell me something I don’t already know about my daughter?  The nerve!’ Tina thought.

She knew her daughter better than anyone.  She didn’t need Bette telling her things she already knew.  Angelica to the best of Tina’s knowledge has made no outward choice about her sexual preference.  It not like is even mattered to Tina what way Angelica chooses, she just didn’t want Bette dictating to Angelica what she should be.

“Bette I don’t care what your opinion is.  Angelica and I have gotten along fine just the two of us for more years then I care to remember.  You have known her what … 24 hours and you want to call her gay!  She has had boyfriends and others friends.  I want her to feel free to be how she wants to be.   I won’t let you or anyone dictate to her.  I don’t know what kind of stories you people have been filling her head with but I …”

This attack finally pushed all of Bette’s buttons.  This was the last straw she couldn’t help herself she had to interrupt Tina.  “If you mean by you people” Bette pauses here for effect to raise her hands and signal invisible quotation marks in the air, “you are talking about the people who care about you, love you and have always loved you.  The people who have accepted Angelica with open arms, no questions asked.  The people you left behind then YES it us people who have taken Angelica in and her safe.”

By the time Bette was done with her outburst her anger had gotten the best of her.  Tina could tell by the redness of her face and the way her arms were firmly crossed about her chest.  It was the first Tina had heard Bette raise her voice.  It was a tone that Tina had heard many times in the past.  As soon as she heard that tone she knew she had crossed a line.

Despite hearing Bette harshness, Tina’s mind was split.  Part of her was listening to Bette and the other was captured with a fleeting thought.  What if Angelica did have feelings for Paige?  Feelings that Paige didn’t returned.  These thoughts were playing out in Tina’s mind while she watching Bette’s anger.  Poor Angelica, she had to face that possible rejection alone.  Could that have been the flash point between them that caused Angelica to run?

    1. This is awesome. Tina really needs to step back a bit. What’s with all the high and mighty crap. Bette is only trying to help. Maybe when the three of them are together. Hopefully Tina will let Bette in and let her help.

    2. Oh Boy!!!!Jwet, 2 in one day, can we go for the hat trick?? It must have taken all Bette had not to throw a bucket of water on Tina. I could go on a big rant right now but the breaks are warn out so I might never stop. Thats all about good writing. Thank you. Md

    3. Seems your Weary Tina might be depressed herself… then again, who wouldn’t be crabby when her child is lost? Of course Bette can help, she understands all about ‘crabby’ moments herself ;-)

    4. We could all be hard on Tina, she has never had any problem with Angie,so I would feel the sae way Tina does. that someone had tryed to brainwash her. The first ones would be LA and one of the gang., Its so hard on a parent to have a child do something out of the norm. I would be so afraid, and angry until I could get to the root of the problen. The love is still there between them, thanks so much for posting twofer. thanks

    5. The darkness of Angelica’s soul is scaring Tina. She thinks that it is her darker side (evil or whatever) while Angelica is more concerned with her skin color. Thanks for the post.

    6. Yes, Tina has put off far too long that certain conversation with Angie about who she is and her other mother. For the life of me I don’t think this is the right time for that particular conversation either. She needs to first find out why Angie came to LA and not with her friend and her family. Angie was led by that girl to do something she never would have on her own and Tina needs to know this first and foremost. Then she can talk to her about everything else. Then they need to talk about tina and Angie moving to CA and living there for the support she would get with Bette and the gang which would be so very good for Angie and Tina too. I know, I know they have a lot of talking to do first before any of those decisions are made. Great post. If Tina starts on another diatribe Bette should walk her out to the pool and shove her in for a little wake up call. That might get her attention to shut up and listen. Thaks for posting both chapters so quickly. PPS

    7. You’ve got me on the edge of my seat, rereading every line, Jwet. The roller coaster of emotions you describe keep me enthralled with every chapter. Tina is such an unpredictable, raw nerve that I can’t imagine what will happen once Angelica is told of her mother’s relationship with Bette. Thanks for the double dip… feel free to repeat as often as you like!

    8. that was a nice treat, 2 posts. thank you and thanks to the emailer who got you to post twice. another one would be even a bigger surprise treat? ha, ha. Thank you for sharing your story; needless to say, I enjoy your stories; it keeps me sane among the insanity of the insurance world! It’s nice to see Bette and Tina actually communicating. Will they work on their own relationship? Will we get to see more of Alice?
