    Window of Opportunity ch. 64

“Why didn’t you take it? You always said that this was the coup in your world.”

“It would have been professionally but personally it would have killed me. In LA, there was always the chance I would run into you but that wasn’t possible if I were here. Even as bad as things were with us being friends and my not being sure how much involvement I would have in Angie’s life, I couldn’t move across country and leave her. It was a great feeling to be offered the position but I had too much to leave.”

She pulled me into her arms. “Oh Babe. I’m so sorry. You shouldn’t have had to pass up such an opportunity that was so unexpected. I…”

I cut her off with a kiss. “I didn’t tell you to make you feel badly because there is no reason for you to feel bad. The timing wasn’t right and for me, it probably is the reason that so many things in my life are so great now. Had I moved here, we wouldn’t be together and I would have given up much more for that to happen.”

“I’m glad you didn’t move either but that doesn’t mean that I don’t feel bad that you passed up such a great chance. I wish you had told me.”

“We weren’t in a place to talk about things like this and I never wanted you to even think that I was abandoning my responsibility to Angie. I never really even had to think about it when I thought about her. The reason I told you though is because they still call every now and again to see if I’ve changed my mind or to ask me to do some independent work for them. I have a pretty good relationship with some of the board members and I was able to arrange a little something for you.”

“What? I wish we could have it a couple days ago to see the Jackie O show but I can’t remember anything else that was here. What have you done Babe?”

“Come on and I’ll show you. I love you Tina and for you, I will do anything that I can.” We walked in and headed to Shelly’s office. Shelly was the one who kept trying to get me to work here. Before there was a Bette and Tina, Shelly had shared my bed a couple of times. She was passionate about her work and she was passionate about her women. We were both too independent then to have amounted to anything and over the years, we had passed on shows to one another or new artists. Thankfully, Tina knows about my past with her and at no time since Tina and I got together, had we shared a bed.

I cook grits all the time and I will send Rau direction for making grits. I live in Texas and my paternal family is from Louisiana so I’ve had them all my life. They’re easy to make and I love them, my children hate them. Get some rest and post when you can. Still loving the story and I just told some friends about the story.
