You Told Me You Love Me

"What the fuck is happening to you Dane? Why are you avoiding us?" Shane said angrily.

Dana wiped the remaining blood and stood up. She looked at all of them but kept her silence. She then looked at Lara.

"Let’s go, Lara" Dana said as she begin to walk away from the group. The group was dumbfounded at Dana’s action. Shane was pretty upset and hurt too.

"Don’t you try to walk away again! Why? you scare at me? At us? For god’s sake you just made Alice board that flight to London! You are a chicken Dana! You scared and ran away just like that, you chicken!" While shouting at Dana Shane moved towards her trying to grab her again, but this time the group was doing their bit to stop the fight but to no avail. Seeing that Shane was unable to control herself as she was pretty much angry with Dana, Lara couldn’t take it anymore. She was so scared that Dana would be hurt, not that Shane did it on purpose, but she knew she had to stop this.

"Stop it Shane, stop please DANA HAS CANCER!!!" Lara yelled at the tip of her lung.

With that the fight came to a halt as the group was now looking at Lara, then switched to Dana. Bette immediately went to Dana.

"It what Lara said true?" Bette looked at Dana, her eyes were teary.

Dana just looked at her, and nodded. The group was stunned at the news. Bette immediately hugged Dana, followed by Tina and the rest of the group. Shane collapsed to ground and cried, couldn’t believe what she heard. Dana saw that and she went to Shane. They hugged each other crying.

"No way you have cancer, Dane." Shane said in between sob.

    "I’m sorry" she continued.

"It’s ok, you didn’t know." Dana whispered.

"Does Alice know about this?" Tina asked.

"No" Dana shook her head. She looked up at the group. "Please, keep this from her. I beg you all to keep this from her." Dana pleaded in between sob. The group just nodded. They cried and hugged each other before making their way back to Bette’s and Tina’s house so that Dana could fill them her conditions.

"Hey, you ok?" Shane looked up. Bette was smiling slightly at her.

"Yeah, I’m good." Shane said as she wiped her tears away and stood up.

    "How’s Dana and Alice?"

"Dana is ok. Alice dozed off on the seat beside Dana’s bed. I guess I just head home and come back with Tina later in the evening." Bette said.

"I guess I go with you now. I’ll come back with Carmen this evening too."

"Okie, let’s go," Bette patted Shane’s shoulder and both walked along the corridor to the car park.

"Bette" Shane said softly but all the while looking at her feet.

"Yes?" Bette looked at Shane, slightly worried.

"Do you think we have made a right decision? I mean, by telling Alice about Dana?" Shane looked at Bette, her eyes became teary. Bette looked at her friend, and sighed.

    "I don’t know, Shane, I just don’t know"

    1. What an emotional chapter… Alice hearing about Dana wanting to protect her was difficult, but, I think it is good that she knows. Everything that happened at the airport was just heartbreaking. I hope that somehow Dana can find the will and strength to live so she and Alice can have a second chance. Sad story, but, you are doing a great job with it, uhhuh!!

    2. uhhuh, I am feeling much better now and I shall continue. I must have been in a bad spot and reacted sadly to your post. Excellent work. The plot is very convincing and like MaGoose said, “heartbreaking”. It was truly upsetting to read D watching A departing at the airport. It was even more distraught with the car park scene and I had total melt down when Lara revealed the truth. I felt very bad for D who had to live without the love of her life in her darkest days for 5+ months. I swear, if people just communicate better, things will not turn out to be so tragic. You also remind me to let those people I care about know often how much they mean to me. You never know what will happen next. Life is short. Thank you very much, uhhuh!!! Again, I beg you, have mercy on these two. They have suffered enough.
