Collision Course 4.83 – The Aura Of Me & You
“I know. I miss her too. We tried to get one of her songs to cover, but her record company wouldn’t allow us,” said Tina, in a thoughtful voice.
“I know, Helena told me,” said Bette. Clearing her throat, not wanting to cry, but suddenly feeling very sad, she leaned back in the car, her dark eyes staring at the countryside that flew by. The leaves had begun to change colors, vibrant reds and royal golds peppered the mountains. A longing overtook her, missing her father, missing her mother, missing Kit. Her whole family was gone, everyone except Angelica, and the little girl was all the family that Bette had left in the world.
“Have you ever thought,” began Tina softly. “…that we’d be here, at this point in our lives? Alone, single parents, engrossed in our work?”
“I always thought I’d be with you,” said Bette, without thought. “I’m sorry.”
“No, that’s ok,” said Tina. “I was looking through pictures with Angelica yesterday. I found one of us, right before… before The Carpenter.”
Bette laughed, thinking it was cute that she couldn’t say Candace’s name after all this time, then she nodded seriously. “We did have a good road, had bumps.”
“Bumps? Twists, turns, all of those things,” nodded Tina. “I took it out, the picture, and wondered why it took me so long to finally forgive you.”
“Because what I did was unforgivable, at least, in the short term. I forgot to work at our love. I never realized that it was like a car, if you don’t change the oil, kick the tires, keep the spark plugs firing, that it breaks down,” said Bette.
“I cannot believe you are comparing us to a car,” laughed Tina. “I know, I wasn’t any better, you bought a BMW, and I turned into a Pinto.”
Both of them roared with laughter, Bette was laughing so hard, tears spilled from her ebony eyes. “Enough with the car analogies,” smiled Bette.
“You started,” teased Tina. “This is Quin’s song.”
A grinding melody came drifting from the speakers, Quin’s voice deep and strong, tearing into the lyrics.

How could you leave it with Tina and Bette just disappearing.I hope at least they went to bed together and not to sleep.
That was beautifully done now where have our girls scampered off to, hopefully to start taking that next chance and see where it takes them.
that was great I just hope that u have at least one or two more chapters for this as I feel that there is stll a bit more to write about if so please soon if not what a great story I have love every part of it thank you so much for writing it
Ok, where did Bette and Tina run off to???
well, well Janet…who would have figured you for such a soft, sweet romantic?? Loved the chapter, definitely worth the wait, as always!! Had to read it twice to fully savor your brilliance. The songs were perfectly woven through the story. Love is certainly in the air… looks like a mad dash to the alter for the lovely couples. Fun to see Ro back for Alice. Also loved the appearance of alpha Tina…so hot… but can’t believe you actually left off where you did! pout…Tease! Can’t wait for the next chapter. Have a good week.
What a happy update. Alice and Ro getting married! Bette and Tina back together, maybe?
Janet, this was so light and fun, but rather sexy and inviting!!! 11 pages of hard work displayed here. Thanks so much Janet. As for the awards, I would like to see every writer who has the courage to post have that equal acknowledgement. In the famous words of my wife, suck it up and just accept it!!! LMAOOO!
Damn, Janet. That was really good. So much going on, and Spencer’s lyrics weaving in and out amongst it all. Shane and Lara are really just… I love em. They’re cute, they’re funny, they’re sexy… It’s a winner all round. And they’ve already moved into that old wise and married stage, and like, faster than a speeding bullet! …Al & Ro! They took way longer to break up than they did to make up, but marriage? The heart wants what it wants, and they’ve got it. Good on em, I say! Bette… I wish Kit was there to see her sister making it. Seems like B & T are meant to be… but we’ll see, shall we? I’m still waiting for that sackful of pennies to drop. The optimist in me sees everything working out, though. Helena, Paige; Shane & Lara; Al & Ro; B&T; Jo & Amy?; Spencer & Riley. Anyway, thank you for the post, JM. Cheers
“because love isn’t about chance, it’s about fate, and faith in love, and in each other.” Thank you JM for this chapter and that song accompanying their moment, just perfect :)
I loved it but which couple is going to be married first. Thank you.
WOW, That was great.
