Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 29B

Tina was wearing a cobalt blue, Nicole Miller, a one shoulder satin sheath with ruched tucks at the side seams and an understated empire waist.  She wore high-heeled Charles David black sandals that accentuated the muscles in her well toned legs.  All of the walking she’d been doing for the past few months had turned her calves into legs that women envied.  When she bent over to unfasten Angelica from her car seat, Bette couldn’t help but take a long look at the breasts that were threatening to overflow from the beautiful dress.  She turned her eyes to glance at Angelica, just as Tina looked up at her.

"Are you coming in?"  Tina asked her, expecting that she would.  “And why are you undressing me in the middle of the afternoon.”

“If you didn’t want me to undress you, Tee, you should have put on something else tonight.”

    “Hey, what about you?”

    Bette shrugged.

“Are you coming in?  Kit was trying to reach you this morning.  Did you guys touch base?”

Bette shook her head, looked off, through the front window, and said, “No, I was pretty busy.”

“Well, are you gonna come in and say hi now?”

“You know. . . I think I’ll drive down to the ATM and get some cash.”

“We don’t need cash.”  They had their credit and debit cards with them.  “What’s going on?”

“One of the secretaries in my department is doing some kind of raffle for her kid.

I-I promised I’d buy a ‘chance’ for a plasma TV.  I might as well get the money now—you know, while you’re dropping little boo-boo off.”  Bette smiled.

Tina knew that smile.  It was the ‘something is definitely going on, but I’m not discussing it,’ smile.  “All right.”  Tina held Angelica in her arms and grabbed the baby bag on the floor behind the passenger’s seat.  Whatever was happening between Bette and Kit was so bad that Bette who had been unbelievably solicitous was not even getting out of the car to help get Angelica inside.  “Do you want me to wait on the sidewalk for you?”

“Yeah, I’ll be back in ten minutes.”

    1. ‘ she looked at Tina and playfully accused, “Cougar.” ‘ – LOL – Tina certainly has come a long way from the first pages of ‘Laid Up’. – PortiaO, Thank you very much for producing all those wonderful pages!

    2. OH MY FUCKING GOD… that was … i have no words… i wish it didn’t end… that a scene i pray we see in the last eppy… loved it… and what a book you have here… it took a while to read… but i did…

    3. Wow, I don’t know what to say. The detail you give to each character and storyline is breathtaking. What a beautiful imagination you have. I love your writing so much that I even wanted Helena’s and Dylan’s past life story to never end :). I’m a little bit nervous that someting will happen to Shay before Shane can take custody. Who’s the mystery man at Alice and Dana’s wedding? A long lost relative of Alice’s? Wow, Bette and Tina, effing hot. Thank you so much for the update. Don’t be gone too long :)

    4. Portia… translating “thank you” into all the known languages on this planet wouldn’t be enough at this point. I know I type it, and I certainly mean it, but it lacks… I don’t know anything else to say but that, though. So, again, thank you. You manage to get everything in there, and I don’t know why, but the “Sweatin to the 80’s” line made me giggle, a lot. You have a very visual style of writing, I’m right there with the characters. I see them, hear them perfectly. I love the way you write, I love this story. Thanks (again) for sharing with us.

    5. Yes, you’ve got me googling folks that don’t exist. You’ve created an entire world, fleshed it out and populated it with people whose lives are fully integrated into it. You’ve made TLW, “Do what it (should)do”.

    6. I have totally been floored by this story!! this last chapter totally knocked my socks off!!! I’m so glad Bette had the change of heart about mo…. this should be really interesting! PPS

    7. I miss this story. :( It’s so awesome and realistic. And it shows so much growth in the characters while staying true to them at the same time. And the storylines are just fantastic. *sigh* Yeah, I miss this story.
