Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 29B

“Henry’s a good guy.”  Tina wanted to understand what the attraction was to Peter.  She guessed it might be that multi-million dollar Panthers’ contract.  Stephanie had been very impressed with Tina’s involvement with Helena Peabody and had been convinced that Tina had been with her for the money.  The reality was that Tina had been with her to piss off Bette.  Stephanie, Tina knew, was in fact, money-hungry.

“Henry’s nice, yeah, but he’s not for me.  We’re friends, though.  I value that,” she said flatly.  Her tone ended the line of questioning.

Tina wasn’t going to get more information today.  She finished her breakfast and reached to pick up Angelica who was beginning to fidget and get fussy.

At that moment, Kit walked up to the table and touched Angelica’s head.  “Hello baby and Mama.”  She looked at Stephanie.  “Hi,” she said with no inflection.  Everyone else might be moving on, but that bitch had caused her sister all sorts of problems.  She’d never like her.

    “Hi, Kit,” Stephanie said.

“Hi.  How’s it going?” Tina asked while she pulled the sleeve of her top downward to release her arm and then draped that part of her top on her shoulder.  She unfastened the nursing bra she wore and put Angie’s mouth to her breast.

“I’m aw right." Kit seemed anxious.  "Tina?  Have you heard from Bette today?  I’ve been tryin’ to call her all morning.”

“Well, I know she had a meeting at nine.  I think she’s back in her office now.  She has office hours from eleven to one today.”

    “She’s not answering her phone.”

    “Did you try her Blackberry?”

“Uh-huh.”  Kit looked around her café.  She tried not to put Tina in the middle of the occasional conflicts she had with Bette and this particular one, she didn’t understand.    “Uh, has she said anything?  Is she mad at me?”

“No, not that I know of.  Bette’s been really busy, Kit.  She’s been going non-stop, trying to wrap things up before we go up to Canada.  I’ll have her call you.”

“Thanks.”  Before she turned away, she said, “I appreciate it.”

Tina watched her leave and then turned back to Angelica.

    1. ‘ she looked at Tina and playfully accused, “Cougar.” ‘ – LOL – Tina certainly has come a long way from the first pages of ‘Laid Up’. – PortiaO, Thank you very much for producing all those wonderful pages!

    2. OH MY FUCKING GOD… that was … i have no words… i wish it didn’t end… that a scene i pray we see in the last eppy… loved it… and what a book you have here… it took a while to read… but i did…

    3. Wow, I don’t know what to say. The detail you give to each character and storyline is breathtaking. What a beautiful imagination you have. I love your writing so much that I even wanted Helena’s and Dylan’s past life story to never end :). I’m a little bit nervous that someting will happen to Shay before Shane can take custody. Who’s the mystery man at Alice and Dana’s wedding? A long lost relative of Alice’s? Wow, Bette and Tina, effing hot. Thank you so much for the update. Don’t be gone too long :)

    4. Portia… translating “thank you” into all the known languages on this planet wouldn’t be enough at this point. I know I type it, and I certainly mean it, but it lacks… I don’t know anything else to say but that, though. So, again, thank you. You manage to get everything in there, and I don’t know why, but the “Sweatin to the 80’s” line made me giggle, a lot. You have a very visual style of writing, I’m right there with the characters. I see them, hear them perfectly. I love the way you write, I love this story. Thanks (again) for sharing with us.

    5. Yes, you’ve got me googling folks that don’t exist. You’ve created an entire world, fleshed it out and populated it with people whose lives are fully integrated into it. You’ve made TLW, “Do what it (should)do”.

    6. I have totally been floored by this story!! this last chapter totally knocked my socks off!!! I’m so glad Bette had the change of heart about mo…. this should be really interesting! PPS

    7. I miss this story. :( It’s so awesome and realistic. And it shows so much growth in the characters while staying true to them at the same time. And the storylines are just fantastic. *sigh* Yeah, I miss this story.
