Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 29B

I love you in a place where there’s no space or time
I’ve loved you for my life, yes, you’re a friend of mine
And when my life is over, remember when we were together
We were alone and I was singin’ my song for you, yes

    _ _ _ _ _

Carmen stood in the pool near the three steps that would lead them out.  Shane stood behind her, her lithe arms wrapped around Carmen’s waist.  Though it rained, they had yet to find their way to shelter.  Their eyes were locked on the Kennard-Porter bedroom windows as they watched their friends dancing, kissing, and about to make love in not so dim candlelight.

    Shane whispered, “We should go.”

“God, they look so good together, don’t they?”

    “Yeah, but we shouldn’t watch.”

Carmen reached behind her, used her hand to push Shane against her backside.  She held her hand on Shane’s slim thigh.  “I love you, Shane.”

“I love you, Carm.  You know I do.”

“Do you think we’ll end up like them?”

“I don’t know.  They’ve had some rough times, too.”

“But they’ve come through it.  They believe in each other.  I wanna believe in us.”

“I believe in us, Carmen.”  Shane bent to Carmen’s neck and kissed her.  “I really do.  I’ve never believed in anything really, but I believe in us.”  She held her tightly for a few seconds, then said, “Let’s go back inside.”

    _ _ _ _ _

Bette and Tina still danced close.  Naked legs rubbed against naked legs, long arms held one’s waist while the other’s hands moved all over the other’s body.  Chest to chest, breast to breast

Bette pulled her tighter.  “My God, Tee.  Hold me.”

    “I’m holding you, baby.”

“Let me love you,” Bette pleaded.

We were alone and I was singin’ this song for you, baby
We were alone and I was singin’ my song,
Singin’ my song, singin’ my song, singin’ my song
    Singin’ my song

She slowly walked Tina to the bed.  When they neared the cd player, Bette pushed the button for another disc to play.  Now, soft, evocatively romantic classical cello began.  Yo-Yo Ma’s Rachmaninov Vocalise Op. 3414 came from the speakers.  It was a mix cd that included classical and vocals, R&B, country, and jazz.  She pushed Tina onto the bed, knelt beside her, then bent and kissed her again.

    1. ‘ she looked at Tina and playfully accused, “Cougar.” ‘ – LOL – Tina certainly has come a long way from the first pages of ‘Laid Up’. – PortiaO, Thank you very much for producing all those wonderful pages!

    2. OH MY FUCKING GOD… that was … i have no words… i wish it didn’t end… that a scene i pray we see in the last eppy… loved it… and what a book you have here… it took a while to read… but i did…

    3. Wow, I don’t know what to say. The detail you give to each character and storyline is breathtaking. What a beautiful imagination you have. I love your writing so much that I even wanted Helena’s and Dylan’s past life story to never end :). I’m a little bit nervous that someting will happen to Shay before Shane can take custody. Who’s the mystery man at Alice and Dana’s wedding? A long lost relative of Alice’s? Wow, Bette and Tina, effing hot. Thank you so much for the update. Don’t be gone too long :)

    4. Portia… translating “thank you” into all the known languages on this planet wouldn’t be enough at this point. I know I type it, and I certainly mean it, but it lacks… I don’t know anything else to say but that, though. So, again, thank you. You manage to get everything in there, and I don’t know why, but the “Sweatin to the 80’s” line made me giggle, a lot. You have a very visual style of writing, I’m right there with the characters. I see them, hear them perfectly. I love the way you write, I love this story. Thanks (again) for sharing with us.

    5. Yes, you’ve got me googling folks that don’t exist. You’ve created an entire world, fleshed it out and populated it with people whose lives are fully integrated into it. You’ve made TLW, “Do what it (should)do”.

    6. I have totally been floored by this story!! this last chapter totally knocked my socks off!!! I’m so glad Bette had the change of heart about mo…. this should be really interesting! PPS

    7. I miss this story. :( It’s so awesome and realistic. And it shows so much growth in the characters while staying true to them at the same time. And the storylines are just fantastic. *sigh* Yeah, I miss this story.
