“Mother, you needn’t lecture.”
“Very well. So are you on your way to dinner?”
“No, I’m waiting for Dy-dinner . . . with . . . waiting for dinner friends.” She changed the topic. “I rang you to let you know I’ll be in the States next week.”
“In New York? To see the children?”
“I’m going to have Winnie send them to Los Angeles. I’ll be there, but first I’m attending a wedding in Canada.”
“I didn’t realize you knew Canadians. They’re a lovely people. Very much like us, but. . .” Peggy laughed. “Better. Is this someone from boarding school?”
“No, it’s Alice and her partner Dana. You met Alice.”
Peggy had seen Alice the night she had shown up unexpectedly at Helena’s beach house. Tina, Alice, and Carmen were trying to cheer the heiress up after Dylan had dumped her. When Peggy arrived, the three friends were performing sexy moves around her that included a raunchy lap dance. She was equally annoyed and amused by the display. “Yes, I remember meeting her.”
“Dana’s a tennis player. She’s rather famous.”
Peggy followed tennis and searched her brain’s database about her. “Oh, yes, the young woman who came out publicly in that Subaru advertisement. Dana Fairbanks. She’s ranked fairly high as I recall.”
“Umm, she’s good. I’ve yet to see her play, but she’s dedicated. Alice and I are good friends. I really don’t want to miss this wedding.”
“And Dylan is coming back to work on the film?” Peggy asked.
Helena was taken by surprise by the question. “Uh. . . umm. . .”
“Yes, I know about you and Dylan. I received an email from your ex, Tina Kennard who informed me that she had spoken with Dylan.”
“She told you that Dy. . .”
“Oh, no, she was far too discreet to do that. Oh, she’s such a lovely person and you were right, she’s as smart as a whip. I’m going to enjoy working with Bette’s Tina," Peggy said to twist the knife a little. Helena didn’t care. She was so over that brief affair. "I’ll say this about you, Helena, you certainly know how to pick your women friends. Winnie Mann is quite an enjoyable individual and so creative. I’m actually going to produce her next theatrical project. We’re in discussions this very week. And now Tina. Oh, Helena, why you haven’t been able to hold onto any of these women is beyond me.”

Wow, I don’t know what to say. The detail you give to each character and storyline is breathtaking. What a beautiful imagination you have. I love your writing so much that I even wanted Helena’s and Dylan’s past life story to never end :). I’m a little bit nervous that someting will happen to Shay before Shane can take custody. Who’s the mystery man at Alice and Dana’s wedding? A long lost relative of Alice’s? Wow, Bette and Tina, effing hot. Thank you so much for the update. Don’t be gone too long :)

Portia… translating “thank you” into all the known languages on this planet wouldn’t be enough at this point. I know I type it, and I certainly mean it, but it lacks… I don’t know anything else to say but that, though. So, again, thank you. You manage to get everything in there, and I don’t know why, but the “Sweatin to the 80’s” line made me giggle, a lot. You have a very visual style of writing, I’m right there with the characters. I see them, hear them perfectly. I love the way you write, I love this story. Thanks (again) for sharing with us.

I miss this story. :( It’s so awesome and realistic. And it shows so much growth in the characters while staying true to them at the same time. And the storylines are just fantastic. *sigh* Yeah, I miss this story.
You have to finish this! I read this entire series in 6 weeks, and can’t wait to see what happens in the end. So much better than the show.
