Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 29B

“What?  You want me to go the student health for psychiatric treatment?”

Bette looked at him, letting him know it was a good idea.  “Do you think you should go to student health?”  In her head, she heard Dan Foxworthy’s voice asking her a question in response to her question when she was his patient.

    “No.”

Bette leaned in, across her desk to look him in the eye.  “Something has changed in you, Justin.  If you don’t want to tell me, perhaps you’ll open up to someone else.  But I can tell you this; I can’t have you putting on that kind of display under my watch.  That little production of yours was a huge error on your part.”

“My advisor said I could do it.”

    “Professor Lerner was wrong.”

“This is so fucked.  What’s going to happen?”

“I don’t know.  I think if an offer is made of a short suspension, you should accept it.”

“I won’t.”  He stood up.  “No fuckin’ way.”

Bette stood as well.  “Okay, then.”  She walked around her desk and to her closed door.  “Thanks for stopping in Justin.  I hope you give some thought to our talk.  I’ve got more students to see.”

Justin walked out and Bette looked at James.  “Anything for me?”

“Kit called.  She said she left you some messages, too.”

    “Thanks.  Students?”

    He shook his head.

Bette walked back into her office and immediately went to her MacBook to check her email.

She clicked on her inbox and saw an email from her half-brother.  She wasn’t in the mood to deal with Mo.  The subject line said, “Are you and Tina okay?”

Enough.  Marcus Allenwood wasn’t going to supply them with sperm.  Let’s move on already.  She stood up and glanced at the duffle bag that had been in the corner of her office for weeks.  She picked it up and walked back to the door and opened it.

“James, I’m going to the women’s gym to burn off whatever this is that’s boiling over.  I’m going to explode if I don’t just take some time, take the time to settle.”

“Okay.  If any students come by for office hours do you want me to re-schedule with them.”

    1. ‘ she looked at Tina and playfully accused, “Cougar.” ‘ – LOL – Tina certainly has come a long way from the first pages of ‘Laid Up’. – PortiaO, Thank you very much for producing all those wonderful pages!

    2. OH MY FUCKING GOD… that was … i have no words… i wish it didn’t end… that a scene i pray we see in the last eppy… loved it… and what a book you have here… it took a while to read… but i did…

    3. Wow, I don’t know what to say. The detail you give to each character and storyline is breathtaking. What a beautiful imagination you have. I love your writing so much that I even wanted Helena’s and Dylan’s past life story to never end :). I’m a little bit nervous that someting will happen to Shay before Shane can take custody. Who’s the mystery man at Alice and Dana’s wedding? A long lost relative of Alice’s? Wow, Bette and Tina, effing hot. Thank you so much for the update. Don’t be gone too long :)

    4. Portia… translating “thank you” into all the known languages on this planet wouldn’t be enough at this point. I know I type it, and I certainly mean it, but it lacks… I don’t know anything else to say but that, though. So, again, thank you. You manage to get everything in there, and I don’t know why, but the “Sweatin to the 80’s” line made me giggle, a lot. You have a very visual style of writing, I’m right there with the characters. I see them, hear them perfectly. I love the way you write, I love this story. Thanks (again) for sharing with us.

    5. Yes, you’ve got me googling folks that don’t exist. You’ve created an entire world, fleshed it out and populated it with people whose lives are fully integrated into it. You’ve made TLW, “Do what it (should)do”.

    6. I have totally been floored by this story!! this last chapter totally knocked my socks off!!! I’m so glad Bette had the change of heart about mo…. this should be really interesting! PPS

    7. I miss this story. :( It’s so awesome and realistic. And it shows so much growth in the characters while staying true to them at the same time. And the storylines are just fantastic. *sigh* Yeah, I miss this story.
