Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 29B

Back in Ankara I couldn’t shake my feeling of loss and the grief was immeasurable.  I assure you, I was not the life of the party with my mates.  I think I grieved for weeks at what seemed real to me, but perhaps, it wasn’t.  Then one day, I had another view–if that really was a past life, then I would have other lives and I had this present one to live.  What if I found this person again?  I could know that kind of joy again, in this life.  Finally, I stepped out of that funk.  And when I met you, for the first time, that joy came back and when you left me, I knew that this time I couldn’t wait and hope for your return.

"I’m glad you came for me," Dylan said.  It was so strange, Dylan thought.  She had hooked up with Danny who had it in for the Peabody Foundation and concocted, what on the surface seemed like an absurd plan to blackmail one of the Peabodys.  Using Dylan to do it was chancy.  He had to hope that Dylan would be willing to go along with such a scheme and not chicken out before its conclusion.  Helena could have been already involved, not interested, not buying into it, anything.  Everything that needed to happen did in fact come to pass, and this illogical plan had seemed fated to succeed.

Dylan turned to where the tips of Helena’s fingers rested on Dylan’s shoulder.  She reached up, turned to the hand, held it in her own, and kissed it.  She turned back to Helena and smiled and Helena returned it.  Helena fought back the rush of emotion as her mind had taken her back there again where this person had kissed her scratched and slightly sore fingers in exactly the same way.  She looked at Dylan and then closed her eyes, soaking in the present, so reminiscent of another time and another place.

“How come every time someone claims to have a past life experience they’re either famous, royalty, or recall the love to end all loves.”  Dylan chuckled.  “’Oh, I was a Roman Empress.’  No one ever remembers being the one mopping down the vomitorium after a night of debauchery.”  She smiled at Helena who sort of shrugged in response.

    1. ‘ she looked at Tina and playfully accused, “Cougar.” ‘ – LOL – Tina certainly has come a long way from the first pages of ‘Laid Up’. – PortiaO, Thank you very much for producing all those wonderful pages!

    2. OH MY FUCKING GOD… that was … i have no words… i wish it didn’t end… that a scene i pray we see in the last eppy… loved it… and what a book you have here… it took a while to read… but i did…

    3. Wow, I don’t know what to say. The detail you give to each character and storyline is breathtaking. What a beautiful imagination you have. I love your writing so much that I even wanted Helena’s and Dylan’s past life story to never end :). I’m a little bit nervous that someting will happen to Shay before Shane can take custody. Who’s the mystery man at Alice and Dana’s wedding? A long lost relative of Alice’s? Wow, Bette and Tina, effing hot. Thank you so much for the update. Don’t be gone too long :)

    4. Portia… translating “thank you” into all the known languages on this planet wouldn’t be enough at this point. I know I type it, and I certainly mean it, but it lacks… I don’t know anything else to say but that, though. So, again, thank you. You manage to get everything in there, and I don’t know why, but the “Sweatin to the 80’s” line made me giggle, a lot. You have a very visual style of writing, I’m right there with the characters. I see them, hear them perfectly. I love the way you write, I love this story. Thanks (again) for sharing with us.

    5. Yes, you’ve got me googling folks that don’t exist. You’ve created an entire world, fleshed it out and populated it with people whose lives are fully integrated into it. You’ve made TLW, “Do what it (should)do”.

    6. I have totally been floored by this story!! this last chapter totally knocked my socks off!!! I’m so glad Bette had the change of heart about mo…. this should be really interesting! PPS

    7. I miss this story. :( It’s so awesome and realistic. And it shows so much growth in the characters while staying true to them at the same time. And the storylines are just fantastic. *sigh* Yeah, I miss this story.
