Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 29B
Stephanie grinned, too.
In four or five minutes, he was pulling up to a spot in front of her small bungalow. "Here we are."
Henry stopped the car, got out and ran around to the other side to hold the door open for Stephanie, taking the pizza from her in the process. "Can I have the key? I just want to go in and check it out first."
She handed him her ring of keys and they walked up the steps to the porch where he gave her the pizza box, and then opened the outer door. Stephanie watched Henry in his Lucky Brand relaxed blue jeans and a tan Polo shirt open her door. She thought that he didn’t look much like a doctor right now. Henry was big and buff and manly and the cut of the jeans accentuated his tight ass. She lowered her eyes, not wanting to dwell on something she would not and could not sample. She turned toward the other side of the foyer and stared at Brooks’ door. It was good to have a cop living nearby.
Henry went inside, and scanned the apartment. Nothing had changed. The plywood was still on one window making the room dark, but otherwise, things were as they had been left. "Come on in," he said to her.
He put the pizza on the small, round table in the corner of the room and passed by her on his way out again. "I’m going to get the beer and the stuff I picked up at B &B Hardware out of the car. I got a couple of good locks for your doors and I noticed your bookcase wasn’t bolted to the wall, so I got . . ."
"Bolted to the wall?"
"This is LA, Steph. You can’t just put your books on a shelf and expect everything to stay that way. Earthquakes?" he said with a smile. "I bought some decent bookcases from IKEA a couple of years back and hadn’t had time to bolt them. Of course we had an earthquake and those things cracked like they were part of the faultline. I also got you some museum putty for your knickknacks and framed art."

‘ she looked at Tina and playfully accused, “Cougar.” ‘ – LOL – Tina certainly has come a long way from the first pages of ‘Laid Up’. – PortiaO, Thank you very much for producing all those wonderful pages!
I am awed. Incredible plotting, great pacing, wonderful imagery. And so hot. Thanks so much for this incredible chapter.

OH MY FUCKING GOD… that was … i have no words… i wish it didn’t end… that a scene i pray we see in the last eppy… loved it… and what a book you have here… it took a while to read… but i did…
Wow, I don’t know what to say. The detail you give to each character and storyline is breathtaking. What a beautiful imagination you have. I love your writing so much that I even wanted Helena’s and Dylan’s past life story to never end :). I’m a little bit nervous that someting will happen to Shay before Shane can take custody. Who’s the mystery man at Alice and Dana’s wedding? A long lost relative of Alice’s? Wow, Bette and Tina, effing hot. Thank you so much for the update. Don’t be gone too long :)
OMG!!!!!! I miss this story! Pretty please continue!
Wow I just finished reading. I agree with everyone. If you can please continue this.
Portia… translating “thank you” into all the known languages on this planet wouldn’t be enough at this point. I know I type it, and I certainly mean it, but it lacks… I don’t know anything else to say but that, though. So, again, thank you. You manage to get everything in there, and I don’t know why, but the “Sweatin to the 80’s” line made me giggle, a lot. You have a very visual style of writing, I’m right there with the characters. I see them, hear them perfectly. I love the way you write, I love this story. Thanks (again) for sharing with us.
What can I Say – wow – great update thank you so much.
A fan fiction timeline: In the beginning: Bring it all on. … After Portia: It’s done been broughten.
Yes, you’ve got me googling folks that don’t exist. You’ve created an entire world, fleshed it out and populated it with people whose lives are fully integrated into it. You’ve made TLW, “Do what it (should)do”.
I have totally been floored by this story!! this last chapter totally knocked my socks off!!! I’m so glad Bette had the change of heart about mo…. this should be really interesting! PPS
loved it!!!! pps
I miss this story. :( It’s so awesome and realistic. And it shows so much growth in the characters while staying true to them at the same time. And the storylines are just fantastic. *sigh* Yeah, I miss this story.
You have to finish this! I read this entire series in 6 weeks, and can’t wait to see what happens in the end. So much better than the show.
