Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 29B

    "Who’s that?" Alice said.

"I don’t know.  Relative maybe," Dana said.  She looked at the old man and thought, That must be Isador.

"Daddy, Mom.  Hi.  Hi, Howie."  Dana called out to them as they moved forward to meet them.  "Hi Lenore."

"Hi, Mom," Alice said cautiously to her mother.

It was Lenore who broke from the group first and ran toward her daughter.  "Alice!"

"Hi," Alice muttered again, now caught up in Lenore’s embrace.

Dana was with her parents.  She gave them both a quick peck on the cheek and then hit Howie in the head.  He hit her back and Irwin glared at them.

"How could you have forgotten to tell me?  I have to hear from strangers?"

    "Sorry."

"Oh, and isn’t this just the fanciest so far.  First class flight to Vancouver, then this helicopter ride.  What’s next?" Lenore said.  Dana and her family along with Isador approached Alice and her mother.  Lenore smiled at the group.  "Well, we made it here in one piece.  That was so fun to look out at the mountains and the scenery is just gorgeous.  Gorgeous."

"Yes, we’ve been up here to Whistler a few times when Dana was much younger.  It seems to have gotten more beautiful," Sharon said as she looked around.

"You know, the last helicopter ride I took was when I was filming this crazy prison movie outside of Manila in the Philippines."

Alice looked at Dana as if to say, ‘I told you so.’

Lenore continued, "We flew in, but the location was remote and we. . ."

Sharon glared at her and cleared her throat.

Lenore blinked and said, "Oh, but who wants to hear about that.  We’re here for a wedding.  So what’s next girls?"

Alice said hello to the Fairbankses and then looked at Isador.  "Great uncle or somethin’?"  she said to Dana as she held out her hand.  "Nice to meet you and thank you for coming."

    "Hello, it is a pleasure."

Lenore answered the question.  "Oh, Alice, this is Isador.  He’s a friend of Sharon and Irwin’s.  I heard this lovely man’s accent and guess what?  He’s Polish and not only that, he’s from the same area as your father’s grandparents."

    1. ‘ she looked at Tina and playfully accused, “Cougar.” ‘ – LOL – Tina certainly has come a long way from the first pages of ‘Laid Up’. – PortiaO, Thank you very much for producing all those wonderful pages!

    2. OH MY FUCKING GOD… that was … i have no words… i wish it didn’t end… that a scene i pray we see in the last eppy… loved it… and what a book you have here… it took a while to read… but i did…

    3. Wow, I don’t know what to say. The detail you give to each character and storyline is breathtaking. What a beautiful imagination you have. I love your writing so much that I even wanted Helena’s and Dylan’s past life story to never end :). I’m a little bit nervous that someting will happen to Shay before Shane can take custody. Who’s the mystery man at Alice and Dana’s wedding? A long lost relative of Alice’s? Wow, Bette and Tina, effing hot. Thank you so much for the update. Don’t be gone too long :)

    4. Portia… translating “thank you” into all the known languages on this planet wouldn’t be enough at this point. I know I type it, and I certainly mean it, but it lacks… I don’t know anything else to say but that, though. So, again, thank you. You manage to get everything in there, and I don’t know why, but the “Sweatin to the 80’s” line made me giggle, a lot. You have a very visual style of writing, I’m right there with the characters. I see them, hear them perfectly. I love the way you write, I love this story. Thanks (again) for sharing with us.

    5. Yes, you’ve got me googling folks that don’t exist. You’ve created an entire world, fleshed it out and populated it with people whose lives are fully integrated into it. You’ve made TLW, “Do what it (should)do”.

    6. I have totally been floored by this story!! this last chapter totally knocked my socks off!!! I’m so glad Bette had the change of heart about mo…. this should be really interesting! PPS

    7. I miss this story. :( It’s so awesome and realistic. And it shows so much growth in the characters while staying true to them at the same time. And the storylines are just fantastic. *sigh* Yeah, I miss this story.
