Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 29B
"Kit, what’s going on? I haven’t been able to reach Bette in a few days, either."
"My little sis and your big sister is one moody Mama. That’s all I can tell you. Sometimes, she gets this bug up that butt of hers and there’s no talking to her."
"What’s she pissed about?"
"I don’t know. It’ll go away just as quickly as it came. That’s Bette."
"It’s about me, isn’t it? I know. She’s gotta know it’s not easy on any of us."
"What d’ya mean?"
"I’ve known about you and Bette and David most of my life, but it was weird when Daddy said he wanted me to make an effort to meet you guys. I wasn’t sure I wanted to."
"Why?"
"I was used to being the secret. I’m not saying I liked it, but I was used to it. When Daddy asked me to contact you, he was asking me to step outside my comfort zone, but I did it because Daddy wanted me to."
Kit shook her head, amazed by the similarities. "You’re so much like Bette. Her whole life has been about pleasing him."
"I’m like her." Mo paused, a good long pause and then said, "But she doesn’t really like me, does she?" He said it in a way that sounded like he wanted confirmation, as if he knew this was the truth.
"Are you for real? Bette’s Clayton Porter crazy, brothah. She loves you. You can’t tell that from her emails, from that trip to Disneyland?"
"She hasn’t written me lately; hasn’t returned my calls."
Kit nodded to herself. "I asked Tina about it and she said Bette’s running around like a chicken with her head cut off at the university. She doesn’t have any time for nothin’."
"If you say so."
"I do. Look, Mo. . .”
“I’m no chump, ah ‘ight.” He sounded tougher than usual; more like a kid who grew up on the streets of New York City. He didn’t have that mature, intellectual tone that he and Bette spoke with daily. He wasn’t being cautious or watching his words and that could have been due to the alcohol he had consumed over the course of the evening. “And I’m no punk. Fuck that shit. I can leave it. I can walk away.” Now, he caught himself. Paused, took a breath. “I’ve gone out of my way to be friendly and agreeable and. . . Shit, what’s the point?” He exhaled loudly.

‘ she looked at Tina and playfully accused, “Cougar.” ‘ – LOL – Tina certainly has come a long way from the first pages of ‘Laid Up’. – PortiaO, Thank you very much for producing all those wonderful pages!
I am awed. Incredible plotting, great pacing, wonderful imagery. And so hot. Thanks so much for this incredible chapter.

OH MY FUCKING GOD… that was … i have no words… i wish it didn’t end… that a scene i pray we see in the last eppy… loved it… and what a book you have here… it took a while to read… but i did…
Wow, I don’t know what to say. The detail you give to each character and storyline is breathtaking. What a beautiful imagination you have. I love your writing so much that I even wanted Helena’s and Dylan’s past life story to never end :). I’m a little bit nervous that someting will happen to Shay before Shane can take custody. Who’s the mystery man at Alice and Dana’s wedding? A long lost relative of Alice’s? Wow, Bette and Tina, effing hot. Thank you so much for the update. Don’t be gone too long :)
OMG!!!!!! I miss this story! Pretty please continue!
Wow I just finished reading. I agree with everyone. If you can please continue this.
Portia… translating “thank you” into all the known languages on this planet wouldn’t be enough at this point. I know I type it, and I certainly mean it, but it lacks… I don’t know anything else to say but that, though. So, again, thank you. You manage to get everything in there, and I don’t know why, but the “Sweatin to the 80’s” line made me giggle, a lot. You have a very visual style of writing, I’m right there with the characters. I see them, hear them perfectly. I love the way you write, I love this story. Thanks (again) for sharing with us.
What can I Say – wow – great update thank you so much.
A fan fiction timeline: In the beginning: Bring it all on. … After Portia: It’s done been broughten.
Yes, you’ve got me googling folks that don’t exist. You’ve created an entire world, fleshed it out and populated it with people whose lives are fully integrated into it. You’ve made TLW, “Do what it (should)do”.
I have totally been floored by this story!! this last chapter totally knocked my socks off!!! I’m so glad Bette had the change of heart about mo…. this should be really interesting! PPS
loved it!!!! pps
I miss this story. :( It’s so awesome and realistic. And it shows so much growth in the characters while staying true to them at the same time. And the storylines are just fantastic. *sigh* Yeah, I miss this story.
You have to finish this! I read this entire series in 6 weeks, and can’t wait to see what happens in the end. So much better than the show.
