Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 29B

    Contemporary and Modern Art

and in a smaller font, her address, phone, and fax numbers.

Bette glanced up at Tina, slightly confused.

“You gave me this the day I stopped by your gallery to pick up my earring.  You put your home phone number on the back so I could call you. . ."  Tina laughed.  "If I had a question about one of the pieces or, you know, anything."  She grinned now, reminding Bette of what she had said to her years earlier.  "I’ve always kept this in my wallet and I still think of you as this person—the entrepreneur, the person every artist in LA wants to know, the maven who knows all of the right people and can put that weird mix of artists, patrons, students, and media together to create these amazing openings, dinners, receptions.  Those parties were unbelievable.  This. . .”  Tina used her head to point at the card in Bette’s hand.  “This is you.”

“I don’t know.  It was a long time ago.”

“Not that long.  Bette, you’re a gallerist.  Phyllis Kroll and the people at CU are going to make you just as crazy as Franklin Phillips did at the CAC.  You don’t need it.  You don’t.  When you shut down the gallery, it was because we needed the health insurance and stability for planning a family.  I’ve got Shaolin.  You’ve got your inheritance.  Why not go back to what you love?  Huh?  Why not?”

Bette looked at her.  There was no denying she’d been thinking about it more and more.  Bette let her shoes and bag fall to the ground and she leaned against the lamppost, pulling Tina to her.  She kissed her hard and Tina melted into Bette’s embrace, running her fingers through Bette’s hair.  Bette’s mouth was flavored with the red wine she’d been drinking all night and it tasted delightful.  Bette’s hand slid down Tina’s back.  The dress was made so that three-quarters of Tina’s back was exposed.  Her skin was warm and soft.  Bette’s hand moved lower, her fingers squeezed Tina’s butt through the silky material, and pushed her closer.  Both women were in stockings and garter belts, but not wanting to deflect from the aesthetic of their dresses, neither woman wore panties.  Now, both could feel the rise of flesh that they pushed against with their legs.  "I think we should get the car and go home," Bette said after a lingering kiss.  "I’m a little buzzed, but it should be fine."

    1. ‘ she looked at Tina and playfully accused, “Cougar.” ‘ – LOL – Tina certainly has come a long way from the first pages of ‘Laid Up’. – PortiaO, Thank you very much for producing all those wonderful pages!

    2. OH MY FUCKING GOD… that was … i have no words… i wish it didn’t end… that a scene i pray we see in the last eppy… loved it… and what a book you have here… it took a while to read… but i did…

    3. Wow, I don’t know what to say. The detail you give to each character and storyline is breathtaking. What a beautiful imagination you have. I love your writing so much that I even wanted Helena’s and Dylan’s past life story to never end :). I’m a little bit nervous that someting will happen to Shay before Shane can take custody. Who’s the mystery man at Alice and Dana’s wedding? A long lost relative of Alice’s? Wow, Bette and Tina, effing hot. Thank you so much for the update. Don’t be gone too long :)

    4. Portia… translating “thank you” into all the known languages on this planet wouldn’t be enough at this point. I know I type it, and I certainly mean it, but it lacks… I don’t know anything else to say but that, though. So, again, thank you. You manage to get everything in there, and I don’t know why, but the “Sweatin to the 80’s” line made me giggle, a lot. You have a very visual style of writing, I’m right there with the characters. I see them, hear them perfectly. I love the way you write, I love this story. Thanks (again) for sharing with us.

    5. Yes, you’ve got me googling folks that don’t exist. You’ve created an entire world, fleshed it out and populated it with people whose lives are fully integrated into it. You’ve made TLW, “Do what it (should)do”.

    6. I have totally been floored by this story!! this last chapter totally knocked my socks off!!! I’m so glad Bette had the change of heart about mo…. this should be really interesting! PPS

    7. I miss this story. :( It’s so awesome and realistic. And it shows so much growth in the characters while staying true to them at the same time. And the storylines are just fantastic. *sigh* Yeah, I miss this story.
