Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 29B

"Shane, you just screwed the hell outta me and I fucked you in the bed and on the floor.  If you aren’t tired, then I didn’t do it right and I need some more practice."  Carmen laughed, trying to diffuse the conversation before it went over the edge.

Shane yawned again, picked up her white button-down shirt and tossed it on the foot of the bed.  "Sorry.  I was dreamin’," she explained.  "I was dreaming that I was wearing Bermuda shorts and mowing the lawn and we had Shay and another kid and it was like some fucked up episode of The Wonder Years.  Then, I was sitting in this really tiny chair that kept getting smaller and smaller at Shay’s school and the teacher was you and you were hitting on me telling me that I’d need to stay afterschool every day because I’d been a bad girl and you were going to show me how to be good.  But then you started yelling at me about what a lousy parent I was and that my kid was a juvenile delinquent.  Then I was the student and Dad came into the classroom and made me eat an entire box of Marlboros as my punishment while you watched me and you kept screaming ‘swallow it all, swallow it, don’t spit it out.’"

"Were you watching porn while you were in Oregon?"

    "No," Shane said seriously.

Carmen shook her head.  "You’re so tense.  Shane, your brother isn’t a baby.  I could see you gettin’ all nut if you were bringing a baby home, but the little guy can pretty much take care of himself.  You’re not gonna have to change his diaper or put powder on his butt."

    "Yeah, I know."

Carmen walked to the nightstand and sat on the other side of the bed with her back to Shane.  "You need to chill."  She opened the drawer and took out a small wooden box and sat it on the surface of the table.  "I thought that once you came you’d relax."  She pulled out a small cardboard packet of rolling papers and slipped a sheet of white paper from it, opened a small baggie, and then stuck two fingers and her thumb inside it and pinched out a good portion of weed.

    1. ‘ she looked at Tina and playfully accused, “Cougar.” ‘ – LOL – Tina certainly has come a long way from the first pages of ‘Laid Up’. – PortiaO, Thank you very much for producing all those wonderful pages!

    2. OH MY FUCKING GOD… that was … i have no words… i wish it didn’t end… that a scene i pray we see in the last eppy… loved it… and what a book you have here… it took a while to read… but i did…

    3. Wow, I don’t know what to say. The detail you give to each character and storyline is breathtaking. What a beautiful imagination you have. I love your writing so much that I even wanted Helena’s and Dylan’s past life story to never end :). I’m a little bit nervous that someting will happen to Shay before Shane can take custody. Who’s the mystery man at Alice and Dana’s wedding? A long lost relative of Alice’s? Wow, Bette and Tina, effing hot. Thank you so much for the update. Don’t be gone too long :)

    4. Portia… translating “thank you” into all the known languages on this planet wouldn’t be enough at this point. I know I type it, and I certainly mean it, but it lacks… I don’t know anything else to say but that, though. So, again, thank you. You manage to get everything in there, and I don’t know why, but the “Sweatin to the 80’s” line made me giggle, a lot. You have a very visual style of writing, I’m right there with the characters. I see them, hear them perfectly. I love the way you write, I love this story. Thanks (again) for sharing with us.

    5. Yes, you’ve got me googling folks that don’t exist. You’ve created an entire world, fleshed it out and populated it with people whose lives are fully integrated into it. You’ve made TLW, “Do what it (should)do”.

    6. I have totally been floored by this story!! this last chapter totally knocked my socks off!!! I’m so glad Bette had the change of heart about mo…. this should be really interesting! PPS

    7. I miss this story. :( It’s so awesome and realistic. And it shows so much growth in the characters while staying true to them at the same time. And the storylines are just fantastic. *sigh* Yeah, I miss this story.
