Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 29B

Shane looked into the window, illuminated only by candlelight, but she could see them perfectly. Tina was naked, too and they were kissing. She shook her head and hoped that they’d get horizontal so she and Carmen could make their escape. It wasn’t all that fun being out in a downpour as it turned out.

Tina held her hand just below Bette’s shoulder, against her chest, stared up at her, and said, "So, I was thinking about it after you called and checked in. I could hear the frustration in your voice. You weren’t like that when you had your gallery. I thought about you then. . . when we met and the business card and when I first started falling in love, and how that felt."
"Yeah?" Bette smiled down at her, feeling strong, powerful, sexy, and happy.
"I want to show you something." Tina turned back to the bed and stretched across to the table behind it, Bette noticing for the first time the laptop and projector sitting on it.
"What’s this about? Were you checking it for the wedding? Everything’s working fine. All the slides have been uploaded and it’s ready to go."
Tina nodded. "Everything’s working fine. Do you want me to show you?"
"Uh. . . No." Bette couldn’t imagine why Tina was getting so far off track.
Tina turned it on to begin the project she had created that afternoon. A bright white light came on and then Tina clicked for the first slide. She had set the slides to move forward every few seconds. The first slide was a close up, a distorted view of an object that was dark blue with white curved lines over it. The next slide revealed a bit more of the object; the following slide was a different angle and showed even more.
After the fourth slide, Bette recognized it as a painting she had featured in her gallery many, many years ago. "That’s Giselle Murphy’s A Pacific Wave/An Ocean’s Sky," Bette said. She had been credited for discovering this painter. The LA Times had praised Bette for her acumen and sagacity in bringing unblemished talent and art to Los Angeles and the paper had called Murphy fresh and believed she’d go far, but Murphy walked away from the glitz and glamour of the art elite for a sedate life near Puget Sound in Washington State. Three years later Bette had been informed that Murphy had taken her own life.

‘ she looked at Tina and playfully accused, “Cougar.” ‘ – LOL – Tina certainly has come a long way from the first pages of ‘Laid Up’. – PortiaO, Thank you very much for producing all those wonderful pages!
I am awed. Incredible plotting, great pacing, wonderful imagery. And so hot. Thanks so much for this incredible chapter.

OH MY FUCKING GOD… that was … i have no words… i wish it didn’t end… that a scene i pray we see in the last eppy… loved it… and what a book you have here… it took a while to read… but i did…
Wow, I don’t know what to say. The detail you give to each character and storyline is breathtaking. What a beautiful imagination you have. I love your writing so much that I even wanted Helena’s and Dylan’s past life story to never end :). I’m a little bit nervous that someting will happen to Shay before Shane can take custody. Who’s the mystery man at Alice and Dana’s wedding? A long lost relative of Alice’s? Wow, Bette and Tina, effing hot. Thank you so much for the update. Don’t be gone too long :)
OMG!!!!!! I miss this story! Pretty please continue!
Wow I just finished reading. I agree with everyone. If you can please continue this.
Portia… translating “thank you” into all the known languages on this planet wouldn’t be enough at this point. I know I type it, and I certainly mean it, but it lacks… I don’t know anything else to say but that, though. So, again, thank you. You manage to get everything in there, and I don’t know why, but the “Sweatin to the 80’s” line made me giggle, a lot. You have a very visual style of writing, I’m right there with the characters. I see them, hear them perfectly. I love the way you write, I love this story. Thanks (again) for sharing with us.
What can I Say – wow – great update thank you so much.
A fan fiction timeline: In the beginning: Bring it all on. … After Portia: It’s done been broughten.
Yes, you’ve got me googling folks that don’t exist. You’ve created an entire world, fleshed it out and populated it with people whose lives are fully integrated into it. You’ve made TLW, “Do what it (should)do”.
I have totally been floored by this story!! this last chapter totally knocked my socks off!!! I’m so glad Bette had the change of heart about mo…. this should be really interesting! PPS

I miss this story. :( It’s so awesome and realistic. And it shows so much growth in the characters while staying true to them at the same time. And the storylines are just fantastic. *sigh* Yeah, I miss this story.
You have to finish this! I read this entire series in 6 weeks, and can’t wait to see what happens in the end. So much better than the show.
